"I don't think it's ever been tried before on a worldwide scale."
no, but if it was possible, then yes there would not be war and i would be all for that
"And I know problems can be solved without violence."
sure, but not under these circumstances.
don't think we are saying that you HAVE to have war to resolve every conflict... that's absurd, but to think all matter can end peacfully is equally absurd - given mad dictators and all.

Somehow I don't think Saddam is a very compromising character.

And neither is George Bush. Ergo, war.
- mrdobolina0
vespa, but then again, niether are the french.
- unknown0
yes. if america had joined earlier it would of saved lives. But now, instead of waiting for nations to kill each other, they are starting a war for profit.
The fire fighting contract alone for putting out the soon to be burning oil fields was 9omillion alone. And guesse what, they only contracted american companies for this task.

True, mrdobolina.
Maybe it's a flaw in power structures in general. The assumption being that to be a strong leader, you have to be confrontational.
- unknown0
ok - but what's the harm in getting rid of Saddams administration?
forget alterior motives, if the end result means an evil dictatorship which torturtes and kills its own people will be no more - that is good for all, no?
- vespa0
StyleJunky, of course we all want to get rid of Saddam. The difference is that some people think there are other ways of doing it than dropping bombs.
- unknown0
vespa - what other ways do you suggest?
- vespa0

well he is about 65 years old, there can't be much left in him, esp if we keep blowing up all the medical factories under the 'hunch' that they are chemical warfare factories.
