yeah - but the whole point is if people read it plain text format they are missing the point of the site - thats not to say i would nt provide that service - i am not 'excluding' these people by choice - but I would rather give a more accurate content than a plainer content

thanks cbr_

And, that is a great reason. I agree. The sites impact is better served in it's full form.
But it would have an equally good impact for people to access such information in all forms, don't you think?
Plus, maybe someone who sees the plain text version, will want to see the full version and make the effort to upgrade from there? Then, you have just educated a client/user and made them aware of a world they hadn't seen previously.
You can have someone upgrade, if they don't see something in the first place.
People will not upgrade, unless they get a taste of what they are missing.

That should read:
"You can't have someone upgrade, if they don't see something in the first place."

That is a very good point, but in the real world it will never happen a large scale which is unfortunate - eg . my site is free, and my time is better served doing different things from providing this service // and also the next time some stressed out / coked up twat from the music industry offers £300 for a website is he really gonna be interested in this discussion ? it's a great vision you have, and an important one but once again the reality of time and money will mess it up.

the argument of - 'i don't have time to make my site accessible' doesn't really hold water any more.
if you code your html to w3c standards then making your site accessible to older browsers is simply a matter of including alternative stylesheets.

its ookay, some of the images seem to be kinda shitty in their placement, and some seem kind of jagges around the edges, other than that its all good homie.

That could be true.
We obviously just diagree.
:)
The site is very good. And, interesting. Something a lot of sites lack. It rich content. Something I like a lot. And, it's simple and easy to use. Again, something I dig.
I didn't realize it was a free project. I always thought it was for some historical society client.

Again, damn it:
"It is rich in content."

thanks sp ..
send me some links to the tools you mentioned and I'll check them out ..

I use Betsie. Developed by the BBC team, it is the easiest to implement. IMO.
Just visit Zeldman, ALA, and the W3 site. They link many many tools to make usability and accessibility easier.
