This guy just spent half an hour telling me my navigation was crap and my site was annoying -->
Now, I'm all up for discussion, but this guy is the sort of dick who steals design work away from people who actually care about the profession. Feel free to mail, as he seems to like criticising designers :

No, because he cannot form a rational constructive argument. His attitude is the same as a bad client - ' if it doesn't work on my machine - it must be broken !". And he can criticise styles when his portfolio fails the basic rules of graphic design ? Like I said criticism is a good thing - discussion is a good thing - but this guy should look at himself before criticising others.

I just went to the FAQ's in the gangrule site in your profile to try and find out who you are. Noticed a small bug in that the link to magnetstudio.net opens in the same frame.
What kind of work are you doing these days? I really dig your stuff but there's not been an update for a while.

I wonder, though, what would happen if instead of negatively criticizing and publicly flaming designers of lessor quality, if maybe educating them would help?

Thanks - just doing stuff in Japan at the moment - the whole DNB scene got too much - too many egos and nobody put any value on design - it turned into "my mate can do that for £50 " etc etc .. so I'm working with more progressive people now - and enjoying design again.. just dont have time to update the site - its pretty dated now, so maybe I will just do something new later this year ?

Yes. If a design doesn't clearly function and communicate across the entire web it is a failure.

I am working in dance music scene in London at the moment and finding it similar. Everyone wants everything done on the cheap - it's good for building portfolio though...

NO !! That exactly what people need to be educated about - we cant keep supporting people with IE 3.0 just because they refuse to update themselves - or if they cant update - (web cafe) - they should read the FAQ that explains the requirements - stubborn mindedness in no excuse !!

Except, once you target a specific demo, removing others from the audience, you no longer are designing for the web, you are design purely for niche markets.
That underminds the concept and ethos of the web.
Why not just do cds and mail them out, at that point? Or make software?
Everyone forgets what the web really is.

well, with the power of CSS, you should be able to offer a plain text version for older browsers without any extra work. why discriminate?
