it's just that vilifying america seems to come up a lot lately, so i guess that impression comes with it.
though it's worth mentioning that even being pro-america doesn't mean you're pro-war...

vena, do you agree though that the actions of the us on foreign soil does give *terrorists* reasons (not justification mind) to commit their attacks??
- vena0
oh absolutely. i think all the people dismissing these terror alerts as nothing but propaganda are a little crazy. it's fairly insane to think that our buildup in the middle east won't come with reprisal.
are they propaganda? depends on who you ask. generally you'll find in the PV-AN that EVERYTHING is propaganda and you're always being lied to and the world is oppressing you or something. :) my opinion: i don't believe that they're *only* propaganda.

im not trying to vilify america, I do really like the place and have lived there and want to live there again...
but I have to admit im a bit of a conspiracist...
and the Enron, Taliban is a really great one, and if half of it is true, would truely shake politics to its core, which I dont think would be a bad thing

I like nearly every American person I have met.
I object to the US govt's and the British govt's foreign policies.
Knowing as much as you do about the state of the world at the moment and historically, you might understand how someone could come to this viewpoint...

"you'll find in the PV-AN that EVERYTHING is propaganda"
oh god isn't that the truth.
- vena0
i can't say this for britain, but i can't consider someone from america an american if they always agree with the government. :)

course its not propoganda, but I do question the ability of a tank to stop some one dropping a chemical devise in the middle of Heathrow

I agree with vena here....there is no dount in my mind that there are already cells in place just waiting for the minute there is an attack on Iraq.
This is a new war - I would expect a rash of suicide bombings both over here and in the US, and also chemical attacks.
It certainly isn;t propaganda - the gvt's may be using it as that - but the threat is very, very real.
Welcome to the future.

it's sad when your government tells you that being patriotic means supporting war and death of many people.
As for the terror alerts, if anything happens, I have only Mr.Bush to blame.
These people have a right to be pissed off.

fuck it, im moving to some third world country like Scotland and im going to live in a cave
- vena0
kezza: well two things... first, i'd look at those tanks as deterrent, most military action is intended just for that purpose. second, it's *very* hard to deploy a chemical weapon and have it be really effective. a guy with no education, fresh out of the desert, can't just drop a chemical weapon on the street and expect it to do any damage beyond a few metres. they have to be very carefully placed with concern to wind patterns and deployment. HOWEVER - you can get around these problems by setting one off in a closed, highly populated area. an airport, a theatre, any of these places. so that's why heathrow is surrounded by military personell.
though last time i went through heathrow was three years ago, and even then it was covered in guys with machine guns. has that always been the case?

i'm thinking New Zealand. Sure it's a shithole with more sheep then people, but even if the northern hemisphere goes to hell, you'll still be there.

basically, it boils down to;
We are america, we want everything for ourselves, fuck everyone else and what they think, they can all die for all we care,
- unknown0
but korea might press the "missile launch" button first
- vena0
bahahaha, third world country like scotland hahaha
three years ago, when i went through heathrow, i was moving back to america after living in glasgow for a month and a half :) i realised that was a bad idea very quickly.
- mitsu0
"We are america, we want everything for ourselves, fuck everyone else and what they think, they can all die for all we care,"
who's we?
- unknown0
the tanks at heathrow are plain propaganda, to make people think that there is a genuine threat from Al'Qaeda, but that's just bullshit, until the government releases detail info about he threats, I wont believe them.
War is our worst option, it's about time our governments, both US and UK dealt with the domestic issues
- unknown0
mitsu, sorry, we being the greedy cunts that run america, not every american, sorry if that came accross wrong, I mean people like bush, and the enron fat cats
- toastie0
We are: 5 corporations with enough mony and power to affect the desicions of the governments of the top 3 countries.
