Actually the war in 1967 was started by Israel in a pre-emptive strike.
but I guess they don't tell you that over at empoweramerica.org
the last thing we need any more of is 'empowering america'. geesh.

In reality, Palestinian officials and American sources – the latter wisely avoiding Israeli condemnation by talking anonymously – have pointed out that the figure of 96 per cent represented the percentage of the land over which Israel was prepared to negotiate – not 96 per cent of the entire West Bank and Gaza Strip.

bob, you want unbiased facts, yet you post a link from a website called 'empower america' that paints Israel as doing no wrong??? Right

Bob,
I give it up to you. That is pretty rich using an article from Empoweramerica.org. as a legitimage educational resource.a right wing think tank. yeah, they are really objective. might as well used the Israeli army while you are at it.

I think you can safely award the Zionists the 'First Agression' medal when they siezed the land to establish Isreal and agien in 67. If the Palestinians try to get it back are they agressive too?

Israel expanded way beyond even the mandated UN border in 1948 to begin with. That's a fact that rarely sees any light.

When the question is put to those that are pro-Israeli government, as to what possible justification they might have to support Israelis tearing down 62 shops, stealing the livelyhood away from innocent people, they duck the question and rant about how the palestinians were offered 99% of their land or how everyone is anti-semetic.

the idea is that "collective punishment" is a war crime.
To shed light on the situation. a comparison would be for the US military to execute Tim McVeigh with no trial, then destroy his house, his mom's house, his cousin's and unkle's houses, and the ENTIRE city block of houses that happen to be on the same street as McVeigh's family's houses.

"Do not say untruthful things for the sake of personal interest of to impress people. Do not utter words that cause diversion and hatred. Do not spread news that you do not know to be certain. Do not criticize or condemn things you are not sure of. Always speak truthfully and constructively. Have the courage to speak out about situations of injustice, even when doing so may threaten your own safety."

thanks for the link. haven't heard of this guy. I'm shocked at the people I have never heard of. Like Chomsky or Zinn... I'm just an average joe american who became a lil suspicious rather than vengeful at the 9/11 attack.

yeah. thich rocks.
israelis, palestinians, and members of the NT crew (myself included) would be doing themselves a favor to follow his example and words -
"Do not kill. Do not let others kill. Find whatever means possible to protect life and to prevent war. "
"Possess nothing that should belong to others. Respect the property of others but prevent others from enriching themselves from human suffering or the suffering of other beings. "

"Israel expanded way beyond even the mandated UN border in 1948 to begin with. That's a fact that rarely sees any light. "
nicely put - and very true.
I don not condone suicide bombings - but I can understand the anger and hate. Israel and that IDIOT sharon are doing nothing to help matters though....you can;t fight fire with fire! They are illegally occupying Palestinian land and murdering palestinian people.

I tend to agree with you that Arabs and specifically Palestinians get a bad rap especially in Israel. It's a sad sorry state of affairs n that region, have been there twice while staying in Cairo, Egypt for two months on holiday from US Peace Corps.

>> It's war. Wake up.
your handle is very appropriate.
Iraq is a puny threat - if that - lots of us who read are against war on iraq for this among the many reasons.
places like pakistan, north korea, israel, etc etc.. pose a far greater threat to our collective security -
" "There is an awful lot of Al Qaeda sympathy within Pakistan's nuclear program," an intelligence official told me. One American nonproliferation expert said, "Right now, the most dangerous country in the world is Pakistan. If we're incinerated next week, it'll be because of H.E.U."—highly enriched uranium—"that was given to Al Qaeda by Pakistan."

it's the collective punishment thing that keeps this shit going... and I truly believe, after 50 years of it, that it's by design. I truly believe that Israelis are knowingly sacrificed in this conflict by hawks like Sharon (who have been involved in Arab atrocities since Israel's inception)
again, my suspicions center on
the idea is that "collective punishment" is a war crime. To shed light on the situation. a similar comparison would be if the US military were to execute Tim McVeigh with no trial, then destroy his house, his mom's house, his cousin's and unkle's houses, and the ENTIRE city block of houses that happen to be on the same street as McVeigh's family's houses.

And Isreal is funded by which super-power?
- unknown0
well, they recieve funding by a lot of governments... but of course the main one is the US. guestimates are at 14billion a year. It's a BIG reason why the US is hated along with Israel... there's not much people hear can do though. congress is held by the balls.
- unknown0
UK and USA actually the last time I checked there were also some super powerful Jewish businessmen in both countried that lobby for their way with Israel.
