In this year of 2003, can a small, new media company succeed? Is it worth it to even try?
Seems like everyone does it...
And how does it compete with the 14-year old's who live with their mom and don't have to pay rent? :)

cab2k3 is correct, you're site is the bollocks. There are many companies out there but half of them are shite. Get on with it.

if you are really serious...
talk to a Financial Advisor first or at least in your beginning stages. They can help you figure out a structure for your investments and tex stuff. IT IS TRUE!! THERE IS A LOT OF MONEY OUT THERE THE GOVERMENT WILL GIVE YOU TO START YOUR OWN COMPANY. Start looking into it!
ANYTHING IS POSSIBLY!
I especially like to read posts about people who want to make the jump. DAMN THIS SHIT IS MOTIVATING...now back to my lame ass 9-5.

Move to DC and lets do something.
I have been thinking about this seriously and I think 2003-2004 will be a good year for doing something.

I think I will start a new company. It will be called ' God Damn.' I will hire the industrious team of louno, tricycle, and vectress. The team will arrive at the clients' business (or home) like a whirlwind... they will design a new website, clean up the place AND fix lunch/dinner, and then fly outta there. The client will just stand there glassy eyed and say, "God Damn."... and of course it will cost extra if vectress shows her tits. =]

...did someone say tits?

Responding when someone mentions tits won't be good if you're starting a company. :)
Vectress if you want a gig doing a couple of illustrations for a candy bar packaging, drop me an e-mail. I'll explain what I need. It's for one of my clients in L.A.

advertising is key... get a yellow pages add first thing you do.
then go to your local chamber of commerce and hit them up for all the new businesses that registered lately, send them all promo packages, or give them a call... their budgets may be small, but they're in need of services.
from there, get creative, shake a lot of hands, give out your business card to EVERYBODY (unless you're fall-down drunk, then keep them safely hidden).

Sure it can depends on how many people are in on it and what you are selling. A friend and I develop sounds that are going to support many different programs and we have received tons of interest from retailers. Depends on what you are peddling I guess?

if you are unemployed at the moment then spend your time doing some R&D work - learn some new shit. Create your own (or future companies website) make it absolutely kickass in any way you can. - dont copy a style or trend - try to think up something that you feel to be unique. You can use this site to then wow prospective clients, peers online (newstoday etc) maybe get a link in K10K to bring you a few thousand hits in a day. You might get in a magazine. It'll all add to your profile as a company.
Yellow pages advert might be good - but maybe only for local area only really.
think globally too - the web has made the world a smaller place.I work for a small company greenparka.com we are the new media division of graphicpartners. We've been around for a year now and have already made a name for ourselves from the quality of our work, we've won a scottish design award for one of our sites and we are finalists in the 'design week' awards for best site.
If you work hard, put your all into it and have a passion for what you do - then it'll shine through.
i gotta say 'tits' too
;)
