umm, its not a Amercian film, its a film funded by a Amercian investment company "New line cinema" its very much a New Zealand/Aotearoa film. I recommend Peter jackson's first film "bad taste" so good, so raw and made with his his mates in the backyard of wellington.
I believe what Peter
and his crew has acheived is amazing - and it shows us that you dont need hollywood a setup. just raw talent, super hard work and paitence. Also films I enjoyed - Taxi Driver, Repo Man, Tron, Robocop, ghost in shell, Scareface and Dancers in the Dark - to name a few...
anyways..

I liked the movie a lot. I thought it was more interesting than the first one. Gollum/Smeagle wrestling with its conscious was outstanding freakery. The tree people were great too. I just thought the battle scenes were a bit drawn out.

I saw it last night at the midnight release session (today is release day here in New Zealand)
3 hours long starting at 12am, you'd think it could get a little tedious - the first one did - but it rocked the whole way through.
I liked it a lot.
Peter Jackson / weta digital rule.

paul- poorely acted? hahah are you serious?
oh my god.
hahahahaah!
man.
never thought youd get such closed minded dorks at pv-an
i luveddd the first one, very excited! what the hell do you people expect from a movie!?!!
ian mkellans gandalf is the best piece of acting i've seen for soooo long. obviously due to being a fantasy film it has to be mediocre blockbuster crap... *sigh*
so genre filmmaking aint your thing paul- get over it. ofcourse LOTR will be backed and pushed by hollywood.

paul - you are probably oen of the most bitter indie snobs I've ever met.
Amelie was a ridiculously drawn out. Just more childish foolery.
Oooohh!!! But it's FRENCH!!!
That means it instantly has cred because it's foreign. Oooo. Everything is so strange and forgeign in this crazy France-land.You see?
Any decent movie and be stripped down to bitter nitpicking and whining.LOTR so far is probably the most finely crafted 9 hour epic fantasy in existance - and could possibly be the finest in long-standing history.
The amount of love and care that went into this movie is just amazing, incredible, spectacular.
It's the type of movie that makes me un-bitter, one that makes me believe that that child-like excitement I got from seeing Star Wars so long ago is still possible.
Not to mention - it completely takes you out of this world and puts you in another - one where you know for sure that Good will win in the end.
Best movie experience ever.

for anyone who doubts the amount of work that went into this movie, please, go and get the four disc dvd version and watch the two discs title 'appendices' you will be blown away by the level of detail explored, the amount of hard work and above all, the journey that every member of the cast and crew went on to bring this book to life.

I'd watch The Two Towers if the first film hadn't disappointed me so much.
It had some EXCELLENT scenery and some good fights in it, but it was way too long, the story was stupid, and it practically ended mid-sentence.
It's the first film that I've felt angry with after watching. Total disappointment. All it was was constant run / get chased by special FX / run / get chased by special FX Hollywood crap.

Pual is insane.
All 3 film were shot for under 250 mil, that is a feat in it self.
the movies are a slightly modified version of the book, which was masterfully done. Weta did an insane job on this.
And they deserve the ton of awards going their way. the DvDs have wonderful content, even the non-extended versions.
You could not ask for better casting on a film like this. the acting was on the mark everytime. the cinematography was on point, then pans simply place you in the film...just because you notice what the film maker is doing doesn't make it a bad thing. This movie is about an epic, and is expected to hit epic box office success. I think we should congratulate this movie, for being quality film, and seeing it get its just support.Film 3, WILL NOT have the scouring of the shire, but will end in the grey havens. I can't wait.
Peter Jackson is the man, imagine how you would have filmed this piece...and the loads of effort. simply a work of art.

TTT is a fun flick. Gimli is hilarious, the battles are epic and Gollum kicks yoda's ass. For me discs 3 and 4 of the extended FOTR are better than both movies so far.

hmm, if i'd known that making judgement on a film would result in personal attacks like closed minded, bitter, insane indie snob... i prolly wouldn't have made them.
jeeze, take a look at yourselves... i'm attacking a film, not YOU.
