I'm slightly over 50, I've been separated for over 3 years, I just signed the divorce papers yesterday.
I've been serial dating since my wife moved out. I've dated all sorts of women... Short, Tall, Skinny, Curvy, Older, Younger, Anti-Vaxxers, Trumpers, Radical Feminists, Sound Healers, Buddists, Country Music listeners... I've really enjoyed meeting new and interesting people but never found any deep connection with any of them.
I met a woman 2 months ago and we have so much in common, so many life experiences in common. She's beautiful, smart, funny. She's about my age with 2 sons like me. Finalizing her long marriage soon like me. We've talked on the phone everyday, texted countless times during the day.
I haven't felt like this about anyone in decades.
We've spent 4 weekends together already and can't wait to spend more time with her.
The only catch is she lives 2 hours away and The Dave Mathews Band is her favorite artist. I've broken up with women for less, I think I can handle the distance and will have to tolerate her music taste.

    • Also she was a designer/AD but is getting another degree to become an art therapist. I never dated another designer, we're a peculiar group.fooler
    • Go with her, TDMB is a decent band, you can't imagine what I've endured in 25 years of marriage ;)
      Good luck, life is short!

    • you won’t always live 2hrs away. maybe someday you’ll find a band you both like. Those are little things. If your values align, you like her and she likes you.monNom
    • That’s what really matters. You can flex on the other stuff.monNom
    • this is nicested
    • I've made her playlists and slowly introducing her to safe alt bands like The National, Spoon, Elliot Smith, Band of Horses...fooler
    • and I've actually like some of her suggestions. I never thought I'd be listening to Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran but the things we do for love.fooler

    • Naw... enjoy it man! Dating at our age is wild. I’m in a similar situation. One woman I really enjoyed hanging out with hated live music. I though that was a....thumb_screws
    • ...deal breaker but not having all the same interests worked really wellthumb_screws
    • Baffled at dating antivaxxers and trumpers but DMB is the deal-breaker. Yikes.cotton
    • They were hot. The crazier the hotter sometimes. I only really know that one DMB song from 30 years ago. Crash. Its not terrible.fooler

    • 2 hours away ain't a big deal, but DMB might be the deal breaker, haha!! My wife is a DMB fan, btw (I am not), it was high on my shit list too, but all good.davey_g

    • At some point it's more important to choose who will put balms on sore muscles you can't reach as you age than to a fully align on musical tastes.mg33
