My buddy Dave down the street lost his wife this week. They've been so kind to me and my dog since moving into this house. They were married 50 years. I asked what I could do, he said bring my dog over more often. Of course. I offered yard work and a couple friends if he needed anything moved around. He said he was going to sell his wife's car. I suggested he take one last road trip with her remains to revisit route 66, which was a story she had told me. Not sure what else I can do or if I should attend the funeral. :(

    • That’s a very kind thing to say and offer.Ramanisky2
    • Defo go to the funeral, he'll appreciate that.

    • Keep checking in with him is properly the best advice. It can get lonely when you have lost someone, and after 50 years together. That must be really rough.Nutter
    • just be there for himmilfhunter
    • What Nutter said. Often people who lost someone don't dare to reach out for company but would love to just chat or hang around.Longcopylover

    • A waitress/friend came to my Dad's funeral back in April. It meant so much to my family. My Mom just knitted a scarf for her and gave it to her this weekend.stoplying
    • That's kind of you. Yes, go to the service. He's asking for your dog, he wants your company. He's also gonna need his own dog now. :(sea_sea
