My work bought me a telescope so have been learning a new style of photography. Pretty fun.

10" Dobsonian + Fuji film XE-4 straight off the mirror (no eyepiece / glass).

    • The moon is one of the hardest things to photograph. A light meter will always make you over expose the image so there's always a lot of trial and error.CyBrainX
    • Great photo!CyBrainX
    • use spot metering. then crank up the exposure 2 stops higher than what the meter tells you :)pango
    • same with anything that's reflecting or emitting a lot of lights.pango
    • I kept an eye on the histogram. Finding focus is challenging as there was a lot of wobble in the atmosphere. I took around 100 shots randomly and got 2.slappy
    • Ya it's best to use Manuel focuspango
    • There is no autofocus on my telescope, you can use 'lucky imaging' to try and snag a shot where the atmosphere is calm. impossible to time so its a numbers gameslappy
