Just moved my goldfish from a 30-gallon tank to an almost comically large 75-gallon tank. Bought new furniture, rearranged my living room, spent like a grand on this new setup. New plants, gravel, pump, the works. It took three days to do all this. Just so they can live in luxury.

Two of the three are now floating upside down. I changed too much water at once and fucked them up.

I’m a fish failure. They’re staring at me upside down confused and i can’t do anything about it.

    I’m a goddamned wreck rn

    • heh classic. it's sad but i'm laughing :D sorry for your loss. next time save some water from the old tank :)sted
    • when i was a kid we had a 150gal one, it was built in between the living room and the one i shared with my brother. once we went for a 2 week vacation.sted
    • Good thing i don’t have kids, i’d probably kill those, tooscarabin
    • when we got home a complete horror welcomed us. my parrot drowned into the aquarium full with dead fish which was already half empty.sted
    • RIP fishies =\

On the flipside, you can upgrade to some fancier fishies?

    • eh you had good intentions, just these fuckers don't like the changes in their environment. they don't want to live in luxury, fuck them.sted
    • You fuckin' fish killer, I hate you!utopian
    • Changed too much water? Why does it kill themdrgs

    • Awe, don't be too hard on yourself. I know the feeling. <3sea_sea
    • I thought fishes had no memory. How do they know it's a different water?palimpsest
    • maybe u just need a bigger fish and pool... with a whale or two its much more easy ....neverscared
    • Gofundme in your time of need?imbecile
    • @palimpsest you live in a nice village somewhere in the mountains access to real fresh air, water.you move to a polluted city and start drinking processed watersted
    • you are lucky, because you're a human and your body adapts to the change, the fishbody does not. memory taken in that sense doesn't plays a role in thissted
    • Isn't processed water purer than "natural" water? Isn't tap water more watery than river water?palimpsest
    • Tap water is not real?palimpsest
    • Maybe the fish don't need memory because there's water memory (Benveniste), a homeopathic solution.palimpsest
    • They’re all dead this morning. At least it wasn’t a drawn-out thing. Full explanation of what happened: https://aquanswers.c…scarabin
    • So you pour everything in the new tank, leaving it half empty, and then slowly add more water every day?drgs
    • now we know what an Osmotic shock is :)
@drgs yeah that's the way. also it isn't a bad idea to allow the water to sit for one or two weeks without the feesh.
      sted
    • Yeah. The new water was fine but i introduced them to it too quickly. Fuckin’ fish. Never again. Looks like i’m building a 75-gallon terrarium nowscarabin
