Merry Christmas guys. So I got a GoPro Hero 11 Black. I am new to editing video. Should I add Adobe Premiere to my current photographer bundle (LightRoom & Photoshop) or should I use Final Cut Pro? Currently using a 2021 MacBook Pro M1 Chip.

    • Start with iMovie. Are you already in the Adobe CC world? The interface may be easier to pick up.imbecile
    • I never used Final Cut but I remember people despising it compared to Premiere.CyBrainX
    • If you are already using adobe products you'll find that premiere has some tools?features that resemble the ones in Ps/Lrcherub
    • I also have a gopro, and if I was doing anything that requires lower thirds, transitions, or making title screens by hand I just use premiere cause its easier.cherub
    • Stay clear from FCP, its glory days are well over. Premiere is the way to go.spl33nidoru
    • Avoid FCP, Premeire might be overkill but will be a familiar environment. Resolve if you're feeling brave / no prior editing biases.garbage
    • I like FCP, I think its timeline UI/UX is excellent. DaVinci Resolve and Premiere are good too, and have traditional timelines. Resolve is free.pusherbot
    • Davinci resolve.tank02
    • I think premiere is the most documented for youtube help videos. once you get premiere you are one step closer to using after effects.hotroddy
    • Should tag on that if you have no prior experience with any other NLEs, Resolve won't bother you nearly as much.garbage
    • Its architecture is, shall we say, a tad quirky. Kind of like how Saab put their ignition in between the seats.garbage
    • If you've never worked with Premiere, Avid, etc, it will just be something new, and not feel like somebody has reorganized your kitchen.garbage
    • Premiere it is then. I like what hotroddy said about being closer to after effects.HijoDMaite
    • People have a go because it used to be market leader but Final Cut is easier to use for a basic subset of editing functions, basically a non-crippled iMovie.kingsteven
    • ^ I mean, sorta. FCP was dumbed down a while back, but I would hardly call it a market leader. It was always Vegas-tier at best.garbage
    • Yeah mang Premiere all the way, I love Resolve for grading, but Premiere just has it allYakuZoku
    • @garbage apparently 49% in 2007. That Motion, FCP, FCP Server, Shake, DVD Studio Pro workflow was the absolute shit for a moment in 2004kingsteven
    • lol, that workflow gives me shellshock, but I'm a one or two environment guy.garbage
    • Worst I've ever had: Fixing a FCP project with botched xml on an Avid machine, redoing their work, and then the enduser saying they wanted to do some..garbage
    • ..final, hands on review while noting that they "only had a cursory knowledge about After Effects editor". I should have billed them in diamonds.garbage
