almost 2/3rds of Americans are either overweight or obese. This is contributing to newly rising deaths from heart/cardiovascular disease, especially among people younger than 50. Check your BMI, cut out sugar!

    • I'm 5'9" and there's no way I could weight 160lbs! I'll be way too thin. Not everyone has the same frame, I have big bones.Bennn
    • ugh! i'm overweight by 10 lbs. i know it too. back to work for me. damn it.capn_ron
    • I weighted 198lbs years ago and I was FAR from being 'obese'. That chart isnt good.Bennn

    • fair point, but this is like depression era statistics for whats normalcannonball1978
    • There are some limitations to the accuracy of BMI, but unless you are very muscly, it is really the best measure we have of risk of weight-related disease.sarahfailin
    • I'm not fat at all imbecile :)Bennn
    • BMIs are generalized. Doc always said I should be what I weighed at 18.toemaas
    • It is kind of ridiculous. I am going for 175lbs at 10% bf and I'm ~185lbs now at 5.11/6'. I have some fat as my bf is around 16-17% right now but IBoz
    • wear 31" waist pants and between small/medium size t-shirt. I'm anything but overweight :) I don't know what i need to be like 28" waist and be like a skeletonBoz
    • me, strong like bull.utopian
    • 22.DRIFTMONKEY
    • ugggh i still need to lose the winter fat 3 winters ago.pango
    • BMI is a completely useless measure. It doesn't make any distinction between water weight, skeletal weight, organ weight, lean muscle mass, and fat mass.Continuity
    • You can be 183 cm, 76 kg with a BMI of 22.7, which is supposedly normal. But that same 183/76 person could also be at 25% body fat, which is obese.Continuity
    • BMI is nonsenseMrT
    • folks, this is horse shit propaganda. I have a health issue and this states my weight is fine, which it is not. Very dangerous misuse of data.dibec
    • Well, this SHOULD be +10kg for each height to be Healthy. This predicts my actual weight very well, but I'm "tall & skinny" so no, @dibec is rightgrafician
    • Doc says I’m healthy, but could do more cardio, I admit to her. It matches the chart. Good thing dibec is here to tell me she’s wrong. bennn you are so fatimbecile
    • this chart is bullshit, imbecile you are so average that you would fit into any of these charts, and i agree, benn is to loose weight.sted
    • lolBennn
    • im at 180, im fineBennn
    • shit, i'm overweight but not obese *yet* tho :)renderedred
    • "Average" in America IS overweight. And clothing size is a laughable. You guys are in denial. This is science!sarahfailin
    • It’s the health equivalent of a porn name generatorMrT
    • You guys are misunderstanding what BMI is for. It's a high level health indicator, it doesn't tell you if you're obese, fat or not. It's based on the assumptionzarkonite
    • that you have an average level of physical activity. If your level of fitness is closer to an athlete, like you Boz, then it doesn't apply. You have to lookzarkonite
    • into body composition (fat/muscle ratio) and lifestyle to get a more relevant picture.zarkonite
    • It is however something you should check for heart health. No matter if you're made up of fat or muscle the amount of blood you have to pump is roughly the samezarkonite
    • and an unhealthy heart won't last long if you're out of shape. You'll need to have a VO2 Max to match your BMI, or else you're at a higher risk of a CVA/Stroke.zarkonite
