How often do you change you car's oil?

If you lease a car and are getting rid of it in 3 years, do you still bother?

    • nah, I just drive 20,000 miles a year and never change my oil. ummmlvl_13
    • Lol every 3000 to 5000 miles. Learned that from my dad.sea_sea
    • on my lease, i go 10,000 miles before oil change. its a new car you dont have to change it as often as people think....futurefood
    • also, im a pretty easy driver and live close to work so i travel too far most of the time.futurefood
    • Don't travel*futurefood
    • Most new cars tell you when to. Otherwise, synthetic oil is good for 10,000 miles.section_014
    • @sea_sea: 3-5k is for conventional oil. Literally no reason to run anything but synthetic oil in your car.section_014

    • 2 times /year with every tires changing (sping, winter)Bennn
    • and that's the risk in buying a preowned (leased) car, people don't give a shit.BabySnakes
    • If you've ever spun a bearing, you can fully appreciate proper oil maintenance.DRIFTMONKEY
    • Always synthetic a bit pricier but you save in the long run, get more Kms and always better for your car_niko
    • 3-5k because the manual says so and my car is 45 years old. Just touch your oil at 1k, 5k and 10k. I bet you will feel the difference with your fingers.pr2
    • At 10k km.OBBTKN
    • @Benn... Are you changig tires twice a year?? How many miles are you doing a year?OBBTKN

    • Bought a cheap car fairly new, drive it ~15k miles between changes and it's at 160k and perfectly fine.Cosmodrome
    • Just got the oil changed and they gave me a list of $500 of "crucial" repairs. Took the list to a parts store and fixed it for $80.Cosmodrome
    • Totally get not having the time, but the owners manual and YouTube makes this stuff pretty easy. The oil change is to get you in the door.Cosmodrome
    • in civilized countries, people do that for you? So you don't have to think about it.ArchitectofFate
    • @OBBTKN not much, Its a weekend car, i dont use it on week days. I have 49k miles (80k km) in 8 years.Bennn
    • I live in Canada, we need to put winter tires 6 months /year and 4seasons the other 6 months. So we change our tires 2 times a year over hereBennn
