Since I've had no commercial project for a while (times are tough... ) I've been trying to improve some of my skills to see if it gets a bit easier to find a job... and honestly, I am actually enjoying a lot 3D character animation inside Cinema 4D. The rigging and the weight painting is still a bit of a pain... but its so much fun in the end!
(hope these gifs will actually load)- a friend of mine just went back to college to take an 1-year animation program (he's a 43yo graphic designer). offered a job before finishing the courseGnash
- Yah, scary times. I will try to go back to full-time job, since freelance gigs are harder to come by these days... and I have bills to pay :(Fabricio
- These area great. You really have the rigging thing down. That is very tedious and probably the least fun thing to do in C4D but what's better than giving lifeCyBrainX
- ...to a donut? I think I was 45 when I first started using C4D. (54 now). Lynda got me up and running. Then, Greyscale Gorilla for the more advanced techniques.CyBrainX
- Yeah, Lynda and GreyscaleGorilla are a big help, I use them a lot too. For modelling I actually paid for a tutorial called "Making it look great" by MotionworksFabricio
- I totally recommend it :) As for the rigging, C4D has very easy to setup premade rigs, but I didnt like them so much...Fabricio
- Just watched your reel. Very impressive work there. There's a lot of different styles and skills there. You shouldn't be out of projects for long.CyBrainX
- Maybe it's the market where you are? Come to Trumplandia. There's always work for great talent on the West Coast.CyBrainX
- Oh man, thank you so much :) !!
I dont know what happens... lately things were just super slow. And on top of that had some medical problems...Fabricio - And being a freelancer, with not so much work... and having to pay for medical bills, not fun. But maybe its also the time of the year.. I dunno.Fabricio
- Most of my work comes from Europe, and lots of my contacts are still on holidays with the family, etc...Fabricio

- Hello Mugwart, I am based in São Paulo, and yes, I would definitely move :) lived a few years in Europe, Australia and also Canada.Fabricio
- I have sent e-mail to several places, including some vfx studios in the past, but not sure if I am qualified for top-notch vfx.Fabricio
- Thanks DopePope!Fabricio

- These are lovely Fabricio :)mutanthands
- I know where you're coming from. The jump to vfx house from anything else seems to be a very big step. I'm willing to fight for it though.CyBrainX
- I think the Everyday approach seems to be the best way to get there - New techniques and ideas on a constant basis. It's a hard habit to develop though.CyBrainX
- I did it for about two weeks in May. I'm about to get back in the swing though. I have no idea how Beeple does it.CyBrainX
- Hock me up,mat.James.leach(a...
I'll put in a word for you.mugwart - Some reason the @ gmail.com got cut offmugwart
- Wow Fab! Tá fabuloso! ;) "Are you my mommy?" LOL!oey
- @CyBrainX Yeah, Beeple is a crazy guy! I will eventually try to do a similar exercise, but instead of just doing a render, I want to add a little bit of story.Fabricio
- Maybe a weekly render of little fun things like the donut... will see what happens. Do it as well :) Its a good practice regardless :)Fabricio
- Hey @mugwart, thank you so much, will write you an e-mail.Fabricio
- I am glad you liked folks :)
Will do more next week.Fabricio - no worriesmugwart
