    my missus organises "exclusive" soirees a lot and to be honest understated is best. Less is more and all that. People who want to be exclusive don't want to be "showy" - even tho that's exactly what they're doing... - a simple mark seems to work best.

    but, saying that her best event that went for whole fashion week was to theme nights, her invites were handing out playing cards. one night was hearts, one spades, clubs, diamonds...

    she has also used dominoes, lego pieces and even monopoly houses and hotels were once used as currency in the bar for a real estate agents conference for example... simple yet exclusive for that one night only.

    best exclusive underground parties i ever went to was themed by "the black sheep" - in a beautiful envelope sealed with an image of a sheep in black wax you got a length of black wool in the mail which depending on its length got you into certain areas of the event...
