ernexbcn, have you even read an article on that website or Wikipedia - the place that can be edited at a moment's notice by anybody - is your main source of info? They are writing in-depth articles on how it's not as simple as mainstream media portrays.
Anybody who uses Wikipedia as a proof of anything either doesn't respect his/her peers in the discussion at hand or is simply a fool.
btw, i'm from ex-communist country.
- lol.. now you are arguing about facts?
https://venezuelanal…hotroddy - and all the 'contributers' live outside of venezuela. lolhotroddy
- So you agree that a regime change should avoid outside influence.deadsperm
- no, I think we need all the help we can get, and thankfully over 50 countries are supporting Guaidóernexbcn
- if you want discuss "outside influence" let's discuss the Cuban meddling in Venezuela for more than a decadeernexbcn
- I'm not interested in discussing "outside influence". I was just pointing out the logic of his argument.deadsperm

[tech rant]
we have to thank the development of technology though, 10 years ago they could have done all these shit without a single video ever landing online, imagine what it will be in 15 years with protesters equipped with google glasses or other gizmos..- yes. lets thank that development together. everybody holding hands together and 3, 2, 1...THANKS!oey

hat are the people of Venezuela upset about?

Shortage of basic goods- there's no flour, oil, sugar, toilet paper, and a whole bunch of other shit.
Extreme devaluation of the bolivar (Venezuelan currency)- on the black market (which is the only market that really matters), one dollar is 86 bolivares. Minimum wage for a full time job is 3200 a month, so like $50. Two years ago it was 9 bolivares to a dollar. Every day, things cost more. About 51% of the country earns minimum wage or less. I teach English and earn 23 bsf. an hour. Fuck that shit.
Insecurity- can't go out without getting mugged, been getting worse and worse. I live in Mérida, which is probably the safest city in Venezuela and it's depressing to see how much my habits have had to change. Used to be I could go out and walk home from the bar, now I have to pay a cab.
Those are the standard issues, Venezuela is very complex. Chavez raised the minimum living to a point where you won't starve or die of medical issues (healthcare is free and decent), but there's very little in the way of opportunities or advancement. Ask university students what their goal is and you'll hear the same thing over and over again, 'get my degree and get the hell out'. It's even more upsetting that there is a super-rich class, made up of families who've been rich forever or of people who got in with the government (which is SUPER corrupt) and are now millionaires (in dollars). Basically, the poverty line has been moved up, but at the detriment of any upward mobility, there is no middle class. Also, many of the programs that keep the poor happy are of the 'give a man a fish', not 'teach him how to fish' variety and are supported by crazy price ceilings and public funds that bleed money due to corruption.

But Bernie Sanders is awesome and socialism is the answer. Venezuela didn't do socialism right.
- <-- simpleton talkingpr2
- people are dying. it's a fucking dictatorship. anti-democratic shit. people want to keep power under some idealistic pretense that doesn't relate at all.oey
- a simpleton uses insults rather than facts to arguehotroddy
- why does it seem only white countries can pull off socialism?moldero
- good point moldero. socialism is only as good as the intellectual capacity of it's people. that's why it will never work in the USA.hotroddy
- the middle class in venezuela are generally white and they are a minority.hotroddy
- we need to purge ourselves of evil socialism and get rid of our medical and social security asap.moldero
- our great leader is working on it.moldero

Tons of great content if you can only pull your head out of Left or Right camp ass:
https://venezuelanalysis.com/- sorry mate, that's a pro venezuelan government outlet, they've been doing propaganda for the regime for over a decadeernexbcn
- we know where your head is stuck.hotroddy
- it's black and white. not left and right. either your democratic or anti democratic.hotroddy
- venezuela analysis won't show the cell videos of protestors dragged out of their homes by gov't thugs and shot on the streethotroddy
- by armed gangs on motorcycleshotroddy
- but it's nice to see you found a echo chamber to support your theoretical ideology.hotroddy
- hot, where else will you see/read about the armed gangs on motorcycles of the regime opposition, doing the very same thing?pr2
- not sure what videos you are watching as the opposition don't have guns.hotroddy

socialism mixed with class racism...
the military is composed primarly of poor african descendants who have seem to enjoy beating up on middle class people with impunity:
I hate to be so crude but once "middle america" white voters become a minority.. we will elect someone like malcom x and white people will have it coming here in the states too. give it 150 years...
