How long was Luke standing there gazing out?
- i imagine he knew they were comingscarabin
- Lonely nights on an island. How did they know which of the million islands he was non-acting on?fadein11
- lol. they had a map. that was kind of the plot of the moviescarabin
- about 30 years i guessautoflavour
- nahhh if ben solo's around 20 25. that mean luke might be only standing there for 10 5 years?pango

this one thing i have a massive problem with.. if the empire had the incomplete map with just that one piece missing, surely they could have just narrowed their search to the missing part and within 30 years of probes they would have been able to search that missing part..
- +1bainbridge
- the galaxy may be bigger than that?pango
- The First Order had nothing. Remember even the Resistance thought BB8's map was near useless until R2 woke up to put it in context.ETM

Apparently Wookiees don’t age, or they age much slower than human actors do.
- Chewie uses Just for Wookies® to deal with the graysprophetone
- Bit hard to see aged skin under all that hair...set
- well, for something that is supposed to be 240 years old.. he isnt doing too badautoflavour

The line where C3PO said to Han Solo "you may not recognize me because of the red arm" was absolutely hilarious and a perfect line for C3PO.
Did anyone else laugh out loud at that?
- nope. i find C3PO annoying. but glad not jar jar...pango
- good scene. followed by bad chemistry between ford and fisher. wth happened there?sofakingback
- agreed, perfect line. it's what made him so lovably annoying in the originals.prophetone
- "wth happened there?"
their son for one?bainbridge

Can scientists and Nasa engineers watch Star Wars and not cringe?
- What is funny...is that Star Wars probably inspired them to be scientists and NASA engineers in the first place!utopian
- black science guy called BS on BB8 traveling in sand, among other thingsscarabin
- yeah. But at least he can navigate stairs, unlike R2..Projectile

George Lucas Says He Sold ‘Star Wars’ to ‘White Slavers’
“I sold them to the white slavers that takes these things, and...,” Lucas said before laughing and deciding it better not to finish.

@mg33
I do feel like the idea that Finn was raised from birth and conditioned to be a soldier was not present in his personality at all. But I would prefer an entertaining character to a perhaps what, a stiff, naive drone? Because I would think, crisis of conscience aside, having known a life of regiment and discipline would make a bland and not entertaining option in this universe.

Saw it today, posted this to FB:
Alright... So I liked The Force Awakens quite a bit, but really want to watch 4,5,6 again to determine how infrequently the human characters injected obvious humor into the movie. C3PO was the primary comedic element that carried on through all the movies. Much of the humor between the human roles was dry, almost Kubrick like in the original movies. Then 1,2, and 3 took a giant crap on that aspect of the series. For that reason I didn't like some of the lines and actions by Finn. The mannerisms just seemed very unlike anything that would happen in a world like that.
Altogether I enjoyed it but was reminded how much I cringe when people clap and cheer during a movie.
- Like when he was all up in phasmas face saying" how you like that?!?!
Felt like a teen flick. oh wait, it is. lolsofakingback - Droid, please.freedom
- Finn was a little awkward and energetic considering he didn't even have a name and was a mindless soldier with a lifetime of training?freedom
- A New Hope was full of then current 70's era tropes from feathered hair to open collar shirts. Can't really fault for some modern day tropes.ETM
- And by that I mean Finn's more "current" method of addressing Phasma. But I admit, I initially cringed a little when he did it too.ETM
- Also is it just folks from the U.S. that cheer and clap in movies? I have never experienced that even on blockbuster movie opening nights.ETM
- Depends on the movie. I heard people clap/cheer last night at hateful 8. its not super common from what I've seen.sofakingback
- Although, I must confess. I cheered the M.Falcon!!!!! Don't hate me!!!!! my childhood falcon takes flight again!!! lolsofakingback
- i went to a pre-release of the original LOTR, the crowd was cosplayed out, orcs, elf nerds etc... there was clapping, crying, fetal positions, looking up at godprophetone
- Solo w/ Phasma: "...is there a garbage chute, a trash compactor?"... Finn: "yeah bro, it's so lit."prophetone
- you mean you didnt like when finn went all sister act on phasma? (why is this in a star wars movie??)CygnusZero4
- "yeah bro, it's so lit." Is that supposed to be a quote? Didn't he just say, "yeah there is" or something to that nature?ETM
- it's the more "current method of addressing the tweens nowadays i.e. "that death star is lit af..."prophetone
- Like when he was all up in phasmas face saying" how you like that?!?!

How can these people and creatures all breathe on all these planets so easily? And the windows on the Millennium Falcon look thin.
So much oxygen in the universe?
- The difference between pulp sci-fi and hard sci-fi. There really is no science in SW. Most of the those ships would never fly in an atmosphere.ETM
- A Tie Fighter has no horizontal surfaces for any lift at all. An X-wing would likely just nose dive. But it's fun, and it's never claimed to be more than that.ETM
- Maybe the Falcon's windows are actually transparent aluminium :)ETM
- This is missing the point of Star Wars. Go watch The Martian. Then come back, when you get bored ;)jagara
- Please never consume anything sci-fi ever again.desmo

It's a reboot, get over it.
- Soft reboot. It still has ties to the original timeline.jagara
- ah - its a reboot, wish I'd known that 3 years ago.fadein11

How do the spaceships go at lightspeed without hitting anything?
They take off and dodge rocks and debris in the sky and then go at lightspeed without fear?
- I remember seeing or reading an explanation for this: I guess theres a system that plots the course for your destination which avoids shit like that.sofakingback
- I remember in the scenario, that system had broken so they couldn't do it safely. But they did it anyway, running the risk.sofakingback
- Something like that, its a movie. Its safe to say a lot of shit won't add up. :)sofakingback
- I wonder if they ever addressed that?:
https://www.youtube.…ETM - lol. boom!sofakingback
- Space is big, the chances of actually hitting something ate beyond infinitesimalset
- Are*set
- Computers.BK
- Seriously, if you can figure out how to go light speed I'm sure you can figure out the rest.BK
- Wormhole / hyperspace - if it was shown correctly the ship doesn't actually go anywherefadein11

Saw it. Loved it. That is all.

Just throwing this in there (don't shoot the messenger!):
Admit it: 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' stinks -- and here's why

I am far more excited about these three paragraphs than I have been about any Star Wars announcements:
“Of course, the only way you could really do that [make money] is not take chances. Only do something that’s proven," Lucas added. "You gotta remember, 'Star Wars' came from nowhere. 'American Graffiti' came from nowhere. There was nothing like it. Now, if you do anything that’s not a sequel or not a TV series or doesn’t look like one, they won’t do it!”
So, what's coming next? Well, as Lucas has long explained, he wants to make "experimental" films, and he details a bit of what means. “These are little tiny movies...I’m going back to where ‘American Graffiti’ or ’THX [1138],’ where I can completely change the way you tell a story in using cinema. I produced a few films that were like this, but they weren’t like what I would do,” he explained.
"I've been fascinated with the true nature of the medium — it's been used more as a recording medium, than as a art form unto itself," Lucas elaborated. "...they call them tone poems — in the beginning in Russia, this was a whole movement of: how do you tell visual stories, basically without dialogue, without all the things you use to tell a story, and you just use the film itself. It's kind of esoteric, it hasn't come much further in one hundred years. I'm going to try and take it into something that is more emotionally powerful than most of the stuff we've done up to this point."

Lucas: salty.
