I've not put a ton of thought into the new movies, but I really hope that they're not so drastically different from 4, 5, 6 like 1, 2, 3 were. It will just be gross if the next one harkens back to styles of 1,2,3, all the super aerodynamic stuff, technology that didn't exist in A New Hope.
I'll be thrilled if they pay as much attention to the right continuity of visual aesthetic following Jedi as they do telling a good story.

I have a feeling this is going to look exactly like those 2 recent star trek movies he did, but with light sabers in them.
Really odd that they chose the same guy that rebooted star trek. Are they purposely trying to blur the lines between the 2 even further by having the same guy make all of them?
- JJ Abrams' single goal here is to satisfy the hardcore fans. This is not a reboot.monospaced

The cast has been announced. Fischer, Ford and Hamill will all be in it.

Someone stop this nonsense, what does it mean Bring back whatever to SW? it was special because of a mixture of direction, actors, influences, decade, oue age, etc... Get over it, there are only 2 options: New different thing that its not SW or a lame revival of the first trilogy.

Not to turn this into a thread about Star Trek, but into darkness spent an inordinate amount of time making winks and nods to the source material in the most condescending and point less ways. Last 20-30 minutes of that flick spent on shit to make people go "I see what you did there." I found extremely irritating. Seems like the worst way to pay homage to the source in a movie that is completely unlike the original in every other way.

^ Couldnt disagree more. Loved Into Darkness. Watch this and how you could possibly think he isnt perfect for SW is beyond me.
- as long as its not Michael Baymoldero
- The guy understands what makes stories interesting. Thats what SW needs.CygnusZero4
- It is what SW needs. But what we'll get is endless "remember when Han Shot Greedo" or other needless references to the source that actually remove you from the story by reminding you of the other flicks.jtb26

"Friends, I am thrilled to announce that I'll be starring in the Star Wars reboot directed by JJ Abrams. I'll be playing Master Ceti Maru, a member of the Jedi High Council. The new film, entitled "Star Wars: Galactic Empire," is greenlit and will begin filming sometime early next year. It is truly a moment for The Star Alliance. Thanks to all my fans for their decades of support."- Aoril Fools?ETM

so, JJ Abrams has his career set. He can re-imagine any franchise that is getting unhip....maybe he can do these!
Alien
Terminator
Predator
Hulk (somebody's got to get it right)
Smoky and the Bandit
Beverly Hills Cop
Lethal Weaponthat's just to start - there are loads more
- whoah whoah let's just take it easy... no way some of these can be redone w/ same magic - BHC for exampleprophetone
- and Smoky and the Bandit - not a chance. that's a masterpiece.prophetone
- but Hulk, yes.prophetone
- Alien and Terminator, maybe Predator, but come on, some of those are silly.CygnusZero4
- you can really get rid of those last three. Completely unworthy.CyBrainX
