The company I work for, Thinklabs, designed a great product for Mac owners. We're using Kickstarter to help get the product manufactured and we need your help!
I am proud to present the Thinklabs WrapUp!

1. This is a viable product.
2. It's form is functional and appropriate.
3. The brand; product and company need work. You need more than capital/funding for an idea to be realized; focus on point 3 above until the entire package (steps 1-3) are tight as fuck and then release it to the world...
Good hustle though; keep it up...

Thanks for the feedback! We definitely know there's a demand for the product... even if our "brand" isn't on the same level as the actual design of the product. Which, admittedly, much more effort went into the design of the product... I think we sort of scrambled to meet demand since we had so many people asking us if we were going to manufacture or not.
But.. we still have a little time! I'll discuss with the team and we'll address as much as we can.

from my experience:
look into short run molds, you might be able to lower your funding needs, what kind of demand are you expecting? Have you had dozens hundreds thousands interested? You might be able to do a shorter run of rtv injection molding without having to make the costly tool investment initially.
as far as the blue and black options; imo, bad ideas, color & choice cost more money, follow the part it assists, make white only. function, not choice.
try to make it do what it does but look better. you really need to follow the lead of the manufacturer you are assisting and emulate them to integrate the product with theirs instead of contrast with it.
take the company name off the side and add the the name of the item, at least to one side.
I don't need the product, but those were my thoughts.
Good luck sir.

If this product is to succeed, wouldn't the cable "wear" issue need to be fairly common.
But if the problem is common, wouldn't Apple fix it in its next redesign?
So, the marketability of this product, especially since it's not yet available, could be very short.

You're correct in that the initial investment is going to pay for tooling. We did look into a short-run option but found the quality to be sub-par. It also didn't afford us any embellisments. The only issue with color is having a minimum part-count from the manufacturer, which we think we will easily fulfill.
@randommail
In the lifecycle of the magsafe adapters the design has changed very little in almost a decade. We've done our homework and are working off the assumption that in the next few design iterations very little will change still. And the issue *is* fairly common. That's why Apple was sued: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-137…Thanks again for all of your feedback!!

$60K for a bit of plastic with a huge fuckoff logo on it?
Can't see anywhere what you're going to use this money for or why you need so much.

Thanks for trolling, but i'll bite anyway.
The $60K is almost all production costs related to injection molding. Which, if you've ever dealt with the manufacturing of injection molded plastic parts you know that A) tooling for the molds is very expensive and B) most manufacturers require a minimum part count purchase.
I shared you image with the team. We all had a good laugh, so thanks for that!
