Say you're going on buy a LV bag for your mother. LV 1 is a dollar and made like shit. LV 2 is 100 dollars, is good quality and has a nice design. LV 3 is almost the same as LV 2 and it's real, but it's $1000. (you also need to go to a different shop to buy it)
What do you choose?
- This is an intentional decision to buy fake goods. the question should be you want to buy a bag to put things in.mydo
- You bought the chair intentionally knowing that it is a fakeJSK
- not really. i'd seen it before, i didn't know it was a famous designer at the time.mydo

Yes, I am a consumer, if a shop is selling nice things, is it my responsibility to check if the money ends up in the pockets of a dead designers family?
- JSK0
It is your responsibility as someone who sells idea and design to not condone fake or stole designe.
- JSK0

I suppose something like the Panton chair would have had a design patent that is now expired. So there's legally no problem with making a replica as long as you don't claim it's an original.
I believe the 'official' Knoll chairs you get now are plastic rather than fibreglass so they're quite dissimilar to the originals. Whereas you can get 'unofficial' knockoffs that are had from fireglass and apparently use the original moulds.
- JSK0
You can still buy fiberglass from original spec at licenses manufacturer.
I thought the molded plastic was original intention but due to material shortage, fiber glass was used but later changed to plastic. My understanding was that the molded version was approved either by the designer or estate. The other molded chair by Panton was never produced in fiber glass.

Imagine a musician storming out of a marketing meeting because some of the staff had mp3s on their iPods that they did not pay for.
Ha.

Irrespective of the morality of your choice, your client sounds like more than a bit of an arse.
