I'm loving Ginerbread already.
Faster, some new features and somehow I have more internal memory space than I did with Froyo.
HTC isn't telling us (Desire owners) something.

So what are the must-have (free) apps? Or better, a trustworthy site that reviews/recommends that sort of thing?

Spent the weekend testing some android tablets...
Since I am not an 'apps' evangelist, and I favor the mobile web, i was delighted to see tabbed browsing on the xoom and galaxy tablets.

Yes, some handsets WITH OpenGL ES hardware but exotic rom/root will not be able to start the GLES2.0 context, resulting in a grey screen ... I'm looking into solutions for this but factory roms should always support the hardware as it was installed.

Android is taking off in Kenya thanks to $80 Huawei smartphones:
http://singularityhub.com/2011/0…"So far, this $80 smartphone has found its way into the hands of 350,000+ Kenyans, an impressive sales number in a country where 40% of the population lives on less than two dollars a day."
Pay no attention to the terrible photoshopping of the girl.

pull down the status bar at the top to view notifications. Why does that seem familiar?
Don't get me wrong a lot of phone interfaces have followed apples lead with the grid based icon interface, but now the fan boys can't deny apple also follow android.

HP Touchpad drops to $99 following the announcement to discontinue WebOS devices. I wonder if you could root it and put Android on it?
