If an interviewer asks you questions like:
what are you not good at?
what is your worst quality?
what is your worst piece of work? How would you answer?
- johndiggity0
talk about things you'd like to improve and how you are being proactive to address those areas. like "i'm not the best coder so i'm constantly reading css tutorials and doing small side projects to get more proficient."
as for the worst piece of work i would talk about things in context. like "a client needed a quick promo piece for a rush job, so i did my best to give him the work he needed on time. i was not 100% happy with the result, but i was able to help the client with their needs."

but that means you've said "i'm not the best coder " in an interview.
i'm undecided if i love or hate this as a question.
(i'm the interviewer)

i would focus on interests rather than talents. if someone is really interested in a certain area, they will be far more valuable than someone who merely does it because they are (or think they are) good at it. good and bad are relative terms anyway.

How would you answer?
dishonestly probably. But if you asked interests or stuff done outside work that I care about, but related to job I wanted, I'd probably never shut up

"Sometimes I give and give until it hurts. And I say, stop it. I'm always going to cherish this. And each of you."

I've been asked this question and gave the same answer as the guy in Trainspotting.
"My weaknesses? Well, I'm kind of a perfectionist..."

control the interview with your own questions
having a personal agenda therefore your own expectations will help you provide answers to these type of questions when they show up, the answer does not matter, the response they evoke of you emotionally is what they are judgingi'm not good at wasting time in interviews...
i'm not productive when i sleep...
did you meet my mother while she was lving? she was a real piece of work...

ask them why they're such a lazy interviewer asking a lame cliche question like that.
- akrokdesign0
yeah, to much talk about "not good at".
- version30
i'm not good at not being good
i'm not productive when you're talking
i make shit everyday, but i flush it down the toilet just like you
- zarkonite0
why would you ask lame questions like that, you like pre-canned answers?
What are you going to learn about your candidate that can make them better suited for the position offered by asking any of this shit?!?!
- Beeachboy0
Think of those questions as to where your challenges lie. Someone who is honest in an interview and understands where their development areas are, is much more attractive than someone who says, "I've never done a bad piece of work" or "I can't think of any bad points"
But Zarkonite is right - lame questions. Better to ask, "what do you consider your development areas to be" or "What do you find challenging at work"

do you think it shows you nothing about a person and is just an unfair shitty thing to ask? or do you think it could push someone into telling you something you wouldn't otherwise find out until it's too late?
We had someone tell us they were a massive procrastinator this morning. my colleague asked the question and i just felt bad for the poor soul as i noted FAIL on my note book in large red marker pen. and then held it up to their face.

try to get the interview done by e-mail, this gives you more time to think up witty and unique answers. Doing one on the phone is likely to result in mistakes, fail and a missed opportunity.

the thing is these questions are designed to see how you put a positive spin on things for example....
I can get a bit naughty when it comes to exercise... i try to get the the gym 3x a week but i normally end up only going once.
'my worst quality is I can be (very) pedantic and fuss over details and can get a little frustrated when things aren't right... this does however mean that my quality is very high and have a good attention to detail and ive learned professionally when to draw the line when it comes to nit picking at pixels....
- Stugoo0
then 'the my worst peice of work'.....
if you point to a piece in your foilio, crit it and be overcritical, then finish on what you did like about it....

a girl we interview this morning was smart, she talked about a piece of work that was her CD's idea. she didn't agree and thought the client would hate it. but then said she had learned a lot from the project, the client liked it, and that her ideas we're always right. humble pie!

1. i start work at 4am, will anyone else be in?
2. can pot be written off as a business expense? it's prescription. insurance maybe?
3. cut the bullshit interview guy... do you even really work? because I have a question for you. is this one of those places where no matter what you prepare in advance and get comps signed off on and approved, no matter what, most everyone will stay late and final changes will still be made after not only approval but live launch?
interview guy: "...um..."
yeah that's what i thought, where's the kitchen?
