I did. I became a post man for 2 weeks, then worked in landscape gardening for 6 months.
Eventually found my way back to design, the break was great though, came back with a fresh look on things and a new drive.

but don't you work for a good van agency??? Move to victoria if you want slower pace man, I made the move from london last year never looked back.
- I work for a great agency, that's why I'm thinking it's more the industry as a whole that I'm tired of.2cents

Client assassin for hire. I'd take on jobs from designers who want their bosses/clients killed in the most appalling way.
yes it's been a bad day.

I will invent the condom that will test for STD's and Birth Control while in use. so when the condom turns green the "SAFE" color... meaning Birth Control present and no STD's. Then you can take it off and go to town!
Millions baby! Millions!

Teach college.... that is my advice. It allows you to look at design on an academic level and removes the pressure of pleasing clients. I have seen several jobs open, especially if you can do video or 3d. Though many require at least a Master's degree, many require an MFA (which is an extra year).
There are certainly downsides... but in all, I love it. They say that those who can do and those who can't teach. That is not entirely true, it's just two different skills. Some can do and not teach, some can teach and not do, some can do both. Some can do neither. Not sure which I am. Probably the latter.
My other advice is to just win the lottery. I don't know why more people don't do it. I am going to win soon, I know it.
- The teaching gig REALLY appeals to me. I'm going to look into what I need to move forward with it.2cents

If I ever decided to leave the design game I would probably start making money. Like counterfeit style out that design background to good use.

as I have no other options--none at all--I prefer not to think about it. At some point, though, the work will dry up and I'll be destitute

I’d like to get into the art “game”. Or be a chef. I always thought being a cobbler would be a very honest, rewarding job – Daniel Day-Lewis style.
