I know I'm not interested in teaching.
- I think I'd prefer teaching over what I'm doing now.2cents
- teaching is great but even though i teach design, teaching is not designing. (if that makes sense)cramdesign
- I just hate speaking to people for long periods of time.Jaline
- A bunch of my friends are going to teacher's college and they claim speaking is not that bad. But I still think it is...Jaline
- i still get a little nervous after nine years but after the first class or so each term you settle down.cramdesign
- there are few things better than when a student finally "gets it" and you see their work evolve.cramdesign
- that's true. I've tutored people before and it's not bad. But I don't see myself doing it full-time.Jaline
- i understand... certainly not for everyone... though you do seem to have the patience for it.cramdesign

I already left it and now work as a writer while doing some design on the side. So I'd say "writer" but I often fantasize about having a real job like my father where I wake up at a decent hour and do work that makes me feel like a man.

Eventually graphic design as a career will wither away, with things like modern outsourcing expanding.
- who will they be outsourced too?
Designers? DOOOOHmorilla - Indiahedge
- so the country will be designing? Not people who are designers?morilla
- you need to read about the quickly arriving conceptual age which will prove your words to have no support.SoupCan

I'd really like a change of pace, I think I've had about all I can handle of this industry.
- what are you thinking of doing, if you don't mind me prying?Complexfruit
- That's the problem, I have no idea. I worked doing carpentry while in design school and I loved it, so maybe that?2cents
- that sounds goodComplexfruit
- have you tried a different sector? or maybe design in a less stressful environment?cramdesign
- I worked in a hospital pr office for a couple of years and yea it was all similar work/style but it was fun and less pressure.cramdesign

I got my first sci-fi short story published last week so I'm hoping to never have to hear the word "approval" again by next year.
