I've worked with so many people like this and given them the benefit of the doubt. And that was a mistake -- none of them changed or improved. It sounds like this guy shouldn't be managing the business. I would start looking for your next job, quickly.

when is the last time you actually got paid?
if it has been over 4 weeks, pick up your spine and run the fuck out of there! but make sure you get a written contract from your boss stating the money they owe you, and when you will actually see a check for the work you have already done. also make sure you get compensation pay for the matter at hand. if crazyman denies you, mention a lawyer.overall, your situation is complete bullshit. there is no legitimate firm that would try to pull this.
good luck.

i didn't read all the responses here, but the answer seems quite clear to me. as a group, go above him and explain the situation and ask that he be replaced with someone more competent. if there's no one above him, simply take everyone, and start a new company, ala jerry maguire: "Who's with me... who's with me besides.. flipper here".

Shesh - I feel for you buddy - but the QBN crew are right. You need to start looking at other opportunities and leave.
The 1st sign a company is in danger is when it can't pay its suppliers on time. Once they can't pay their employees - that means that there are serious issues with either cash flow or
managements handling of such cash flow. It's a business wide problem and you're caught in the middle. It's not fair to you if you're putting the hours in.Do not cheapen yourself by working for free. There are plenty of other opportunities out there and once you find a new company that are professionals, you'll sit back and wonder why you
ever stayed there in the first place.

Shesh, please let us know what you end up doing about this situation. Good luck to you. :)

wft is it with these bosses in perth?
first place i worked for didnt pay super, took advantage, lied and treated staff like shit. I loved the people i worked with (minus the management and sales dept) but i left.....best decision i ever made! Boss had the whole company on unlicenced software, pissed off too many suppliers and freelancers by not paying and a plethora of other illegal shit. Got taken to court for it all and declared bankruptcy. I hope the guy gets what he deserves becuae the prick doesnt deserve the money he has....scum.
anyway. My point being.......Leave the company! If theres nothing in Perth.....Leave perth! I left about 4 years ago and cannot imagine myself working for anyone in Perth. If i ever move back to Aus it will be east unless i plan on starting out on my own.....and even that i would be reluctant to do in Perth. Its a beautiful place but for design its baws!
so to summarise. Get your folio together and get the fark oooot! i guarantee it will be the best thing you ever do!

Get a new job lined up get copies of all your good work and quit.

You could try staging a military coup and claim the studio as a new state, then kill the old boss. Viva la revolution!

Yeah man. I was in a similar situation. The company was having money problems but the owner was such a dreamer he kept me working by selling me dreams of future success with the company. That's all BS though. You gotta be paid for what you do. The only option is to leave.

Find another job, it's HIS problem, not yours.
