I would definitely ask for some time to consider their offer once they have this discussion with you. Keep them on the back burner and buy yourself some time to check out the other places. You could very well go into these other places and think "this is just as cool if not cooler." You don't know until you see what else is out there.

This is like a bad relationship.
Go make some more money and meet some new people.

... if you are not seeing $$$, then it's not actually a "job." I think it's referred to as slave labor.

It's strange that a studio of this calibre is operating like this. How he got hooked up with cato purnell is beyond me... but I think you should start looking at freelance or other studios.
I know Perth is a harsh city for design jobs, especially good design jobs. That bieng said, this place is amazing so give it a shot: http://blockbranding.com/
Good luck!

In all seriousness, I would urge you not to stay. It's like getting back with an ex, all you remember is the good times and not the reasons that made things end. There's a very high chance it won't work out and it'll be even harder to get out 2nd time around.
Oh, and I would never kill a dog, or a kitten. Apologies for my hyperbole. I'm not good with early Monday morning starts.
