what about those being racist against their own race? asians hating asians and looking up to caucasians. a bit silly but it is out there.

What you described, Khurram, is not really Racism. It's an ordinary sense of fear related to the notion of identity-loss very common in pub-talk ("we have this thing, and THEY - the different ones - are screwing it) that you can find anywhere throughout Europe.
The root maybe the same, but Racism is entirely different. Racism is not about pointing differences and saying "you're changing our country". That's just fear.
Racism is humiliation. Like this (don't watch this if you're sensitive. It's an episode in a South African university. link is in PT):

I don't think I can watch that tonight Corvo though I will at some point. I found this entire racism discussion to be utterly depressing today. We're all doomed, WE'RE DOOMED CAPTAIN MANNERING!!

Everybody has been guilty of racism at some point in their lives, whether it be casual, provincial or whatever, can't deny that!
A couple of my Asian friends at school, called me 'undercooked bread' which is probably this shitest piece of casual taunting I'd ever been subjected to.

You know, now i'm just waiting for the ginger people to pipe up and complain about how they've been more oppressed than anyone....

i don't usually take anything too seriously [esp here], but...
only read half the thread, and glad to read how most of you believe this sort of behavior is infuriating and hard to understand.
on the other hand, a large amount of you on here are SO quick to throw around the gay jokes around at each other and i find it to be one in the same. if you were calling each other pakis and n-words in your jokin with each other, it wouldn't be so giggly and hilarious anymore, would it?
i'm not at all offended by it, at the same time i expect more from you guys... you are all so much more clever than having to resort to the tired and oh-so-typical novelty fag jokes.
make me proud, ladies :D
- brava!paraselene

The stupidest people tend to also be the loudest. I am Australian, and there is a very racist thread running through our culture at the moment. Being such a young country, it’s should be obvious that if you’re not Aboriginal, you are an immigrant. Unfortunately that message doesn’t seem to have sunk in to the average Aussie. It shames me.
I hope you are kidding, vespa, because Australia is more a part of Asia than it is Europe.
- MrOneHundred, you know i'm kidding! i'm half asian! i just hate white people.vespa
- ps i'm also kidding about white people. i'm half whitey too.vespa
- I kind of figured. It’s early, I’m tired. I hate everyone. ;-0MrOneHundred

@ Corvo; While you may not consider it racism, it is the very foundation upon which racism is built. The fact that this fear is verbalised as pub-talk might indicate that it’s time for those people get out of the pub and do something about holding onto “this thing” instead of sitting around carping about it.
- Of course it is a foundation in general. It's common-talk. The same degree of discomfort would apply if any...Corvo
- surrounding country would move massively into it. It's the volume that leaves people wondering, not the colour.Corvo
- True enough, but when push comes to shove, you already have your target lined up...MrOneHundred
- ...whether or not they are to blame for your troubles.MrOneHundred
- yeah I guess that's true. It's easier to point the one-eyed. But still, that applies to everyone in sight.Corvo
- (lol. what spiral of metaphors.)Corvo

i want to declare war on the guys who design backseats of cars, airplane legroom, pants sold at major retail stores, theatre seats, short mock-up tables, long sleeved-shirts, gloves etc etc...

Is it racism if you prefer women who aren't the same race as you?

I talked to Kuz at a pub last Friday. I asked whether he was born in the UK and then where his family origins were from.

Seriously though, there's no hope of ever moving on from racism. It can't even be discussed without unconcious desires to subjectively position oneself in relation to the issue, or to exorcise some vaguely tourettian impulse, and its only a matter of time before the rights of gay people are brought along, followed by the rights of every other social ghetto dweller. The issue of racism is the issue of racism. It has nothing, nothing at all to do with the issue of sexual discrimination, physical discrimination, religious discrimination or any other discrimination... its race discrimination and it has its own very unique facets that have no correlation whatsoever to sexual polarity or anything else. The only place that these things can sit together is the overarching discussion about humankind's innate mistrust. The issue of racism will never be resolved by failing to address the actual phenomenon and diffusing discourse thinly across other forms of discrimination.
4 pages of thoughts and comments here and to my mind, not one attempt to understand or pin it down.

Irish out.

Depends on your motivation I guess Dobs. My initial reaction is no, of course not, but if you have nefarious desire to dominate or control or otherwise subjugate for reasons of power or hatred, then... yes.
- ahahah. well if you just prefer women because they're green-cheese then you have a moon problem.Corvo
- neue75_bold0
You're alright with me...
