So the best an all powerful creator can muster is hints in a book.

(Aug 28 07, 07:12)Well, see right there you have the iimpetuous behind modern science. It really was a quest, with the medieval catholic church as background, to answer that problem. And Galileo, Copernicus, Newton, et al. were trying to find the creators hints in their observations of the physical. (The Church got pissed because they were losing their monopoly on being able to tell everyone what this whole God business was about. No good for you to tell the peasantry that God wanted them to do X because it was written in this book here..especially if they could find god's message outside their window through observation)

"There needs to be a balance."
Let me expand on this. If this country is truly about competition and entrepeneurial spirit then fine, let the winners enjoy the fruits of their labor. But at the same time why should the system reward the winners with more riches? The system should help those that are struggling to get on their feet so they can get back in the game and compete instead of crushing them so they reach desperation and start using extreme measures. Thats the problem....no balance. Why reward the winners...they already won?!

God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac as a test of faith. Abe was about to do it and God provided a bleating ram stuck in a bush as an acceptable sacrifice just before the knife stroke fell. Isaac was fine. God had no desire to kill Isaac (Isaac proceeded to father the nation of Israel), he just wanted to test Abraham's faith.
gramme
(Aug 28 07, 14:06)funny how all this supernatural bullshit disappeared with the advent of codified science.

second as i've stated over and over religious democracies are, as a whole, behaving worse than non-religious democracies...

in my opion this has little to do with specfic religion, and much to do with the absolutist irrationality it endorses...
after all murder and rape are not in ones self interst. ...the vast majority of people get caught.
^ reason over emotion.
i'm guessing the sociopahtic atheist would know he'd (she'd)be better served getting a job in high finance, making the $$$, and using that to take adavntaged of the womens (or any other sadistic pursiuit money/power can provide).

I'm not good b/c of a threat. I'm not even good now that I have been born again. I'm not afraid of God in the least and it's not b/c of fear that I remain. I am compelled by His love for me and how He pursues me. There is nothing that I can do to make Him love me anymore or less. The bible says, that, "God sent Christ to die on the cross in spite of who we were; even though we chose to ignore God and chase our own desires, Christ still chose to die" Not a madate for me to believe...a choice. Men have made God a monster. But all He has done is made Himself available to us all; to those that will listen. I chose to listen and so I hear and am compelled to remain.
