  • ribit0

sure but he actually said you were a 'fuckin weirdo queer'

  • tank020

i used to work on pc...i hated it..been working for 3 years now with the mac. am very pleased with.
macos x is just the best operating system.

  • joyride0

design is part of every products development cycle... at least it should be, engineers make crappy products

  • digilee0

totally agree that it's pretty sad how no matter what Apple do/ say/ produce a lot of people totally whoop it up.

i do not own an ipod, don't want an iphone or care about itv but there are some that will rather their kids go hungry than miss out on sleeping on the streets for a week just to buy the latest Apple offering.

i do have a powerbook at work, supplied by my company, and an imac at home as that's what I prefer to use but as far as apple kit is concerned, that's all i have or desire.

  • tank020

and what antonelli and mrD says is true.

i like to buy design stuff and my macpro just looks better next to my eames chair than a pc does.
i'm not saying it makes me a better deisgner, it just looks nice.

  • tkmeister0

oh well, there's no point getting pissed off and angry at an idiot. he obviously doesn't get what design means.

    let's move on.

  • slappy0

I think you're a fuckin weirdo queer for caring about that sort of shit, tkmeister.

    Haha gold!

    You're all weirdo queers!

  • Drno0

its only a question of taste,

and should i say going around with a tshirt that says "i visited the mothership" is tastelessly tastelooopaly tasteless.

i've been using pcs for as long as i remember. i use osx at work which is for me definitively a good os,
but the thing it lacks is control. i feel so oppressed to not being able to have total control on my G5 that sometime i just wish it was a pc.

ps: so having a pretty computer makes you a better designer? finally i understand what has been going wrong in my life, thanx anto, thanx

So Bill Gates doesn'ty do this for Microsoft then? What was that piece of shit video with the cretin from Microsoft whooping like a fucking monkey and shoting out how he loved his job and yelling at people to not sit down cos he hadn't told em to yet. Thunderous applause recieved.

So in other words, Im in a foul mood and this argument is silly so fuck off.

I've always used PC until 6 months ago. I decided to change when I needed to upgrade my computer. I decided on a mac for a few reasons, in no order. The design is superb. The look nice. They are space saving - I have little spare room in my studio. Their operating system I find more intuitive than a PC. The screen is 2 foot wide - a 24" pc monitor costs nearly the same as my mac did. I have apple care, I call them and the problem gets fixed. With my PC I had to call someone out, £35 to look at it, £50 to fix it, £20 to be told I need a new one etc etc.

This is the shitehawk I was referring to:

Like david brent, only real and much much worse. I'd rather have the steve jobs brainwashing if you please at least that way I wouldnt have to listen to gloria estefan.

Oh and I think that antonelli was talking about aesthetics not that the mac makes us better designers. Fuck it, Im still pissed off, Im going for brekkie.

  • defanddumm0

well in the article they are talking about the corporation being kind of a dictatorship... but as long as they are not being taken advantage of unfairly I really dont care about the company making my tools.

  • Drno0

    ahahah

if i gang with you guys, will you send me a shiny iphone

    pleeease

ian, you are comparing completely different things. Steve Balmer is insane, he LOVES Microsoft (of course he does he has seen it grow from the beginning), but the difference is, that Microsoft always had an OPEN way of thinking, no matter how much you wish to think otherwise. They always develop software and their OS in order FOR THE DEVELOPERS to take advantage, and the bottom line is more diverse software market. This makes the OS very open for everyone to develop for but also a security target as we've already witnessed. In other words, without Microsoft there would be no software market in the form we have it today, if at all.

This is a HUGE difference in philosophies. No matter how much we want to hate Microsoft, it has done A LOT of good. Apple on the other DID absolutely NOTHING good for consumers, it was always good for them.

Now I'm not saying that Microsoft is doing most of the stuff they are doing from the goodness of their heart, they are of course a corporation, but they are much better positioned towards the public in general and are not trying to grow and manipulate the public through marketing efforts and cult-like behavior.

You really need to compare the Microsoft supporter and Apple cult-member. The two are completely different. The Microsoft guy/girl will think in terms of solutions as a developer and have very little emotional attachment towards the company itself, while Apple person actually takes very emotional stand in defending Apple, Jobs and everything that comes from that company, completely neglecting that the company should serve a customer first and not the other way around.

Everyone seems to admire their "marketing" efforts, however I think there's simply nothing masterful in their misleading, offensive media campaigns. They are clearly demonstrating a cult like behavior by telling you that if you are a part of Apple family you are smarter and better then everyone else.

I have refused to buy Apple products so far because I don't like conformity, I don't like being told to do things in only one certain way. This is present in ALL Apple products and services.

Even though I do think their products look very nice, I have an issue with how company does business in general and how they treat their own customers. When I say this, I mean, they make Apple cult-members feel like they are better then others and in return they charge EVERY single thing possible as they make the customers feel that it's really cool to pay for all that crap.

Well whatever, I'm sure they won't go bankrupt if I don't buy stuff from them, but they sure ain't gonna get my money.

And again, Steve Balmer is indeed insane.

  • mbr0

I love the design too, but they are too expensive and the warranty sucks for a business machine.

PC (Dell) 24 hr onsite support for 4 years. 5 min. wait, at max in peak hours, for Gold tech support (in the US).

I'd have bought an Apple laptop if the tech support was there (average turnaround time was 3-4 days, which, running a business, is unacceptable).

Once they get decent tech support, I'd pay a tad more.

  • tbgd0

Nice looking things make you feel nice!!! That's why everyone likes the Apple gear.

But... their hardware is not up to the price you have to pay!

My 40gig IPOD has a battery life of 20mins.
My Imac G5's logic baord has gone twice!!!

£1400s worth of gear... I should be getting more life out of it than that

  • jkinginc0

Microsoft's OS is very open, you might even say Windows XP came with a "back door"

    for viruses.

  • Drno0

Yeah yeah yeah, i remember that good ol thing that is called a virus,

is it so hard to set up a firewall and an antivirii. are you guys that lazy to not even want to get more control over what you do.

mac don't crash. i don't know how many time i had to reinstall cs2 these past months and i won't even talk about the frequent flash crashes, but no it just out of the box, just plug it and it works. do apple customer feel that disconnected from what is really going on in the computer world??

right not i'm on an average pc, not fast, not too shiny (fariska gave it to me hehe thanx again) but good lord he is stable. never had a single problem-

but some of you def take that whole computer thing too seriously. but don't realize that most of the apps out there are mostly develloped on pcs..

    GIVE ME BACK MY COMMODORE

it really makes me laugh everytime my boss tries to convince me that apple are so much better when obviously he never touched a pc since DOS eheh

sad and he's the one with the shirt "I visited the mothership" how dorky is it
