the thing is; all corporations are suspect in their strategy/marketing/whatever. most use apple products because they are simply the better designed alternative.

You're a geek who's never going to get laid if you care about how "pretty" your computer is.
Sorry antonelli, but in the future, I would never admit that again to anyone.

I'll bump this forever
- GT_10
Antonelli, oh I forgot, designers just make pretty things, so they should be surrounded by pretty things.
We are talking about a tool to get work done. Function will always supercede form for a tool.
Get your girly-girl arts-n-craft Design Philosophy OUT OF THIS THREAD. You DO NOT belong in this industry, Antonelli. You probably think design is all about "montages" and decoration. Fuckin hack.

(Jul 7 07, 22:12)but isnt computer part of our surroundings? part of our interior? part of what we carry in our pocket?

" designer is less likely to be caught up in the hype of Apple simply because they already recognize the aesthetic beauty of Apple" -Antonelli
Ahahaa, you piece of trash. you're such an idiot. Form over function, woohoo! Lol @ thinking you're not caught up in the hype.
"That looks pretty, I'll buy it"
- Antonelli0
haha gt, i do care about how pretty it is. i don't want a clunky looking PC sitting on my desk and a plastic box sitting next to my leg making a humming noise. Are you even a designer?? i can't imagine you not understanding what i mean if you were one.

and a car is just for transport... shall we stop designing them to look nice as well?
what about furniture... houses, fashion?
- GT_10
I hear all these people talking about "Oh, it's not hype, it's the MAC OS, it's so great!"
So how many of you spent a fraction of the cost for a PC and installed MAC OS on it? oh? none?
sheep.
- coreyL0
i agree ... mac is snazzerific.
- GT_10
ribit, computers will NEVER be a statement of fashion, no matter how hard you geeks want them to be. Ever. Sorry, but you're a geek for even thinking like that.

(Jul 8 07, 00:07)"Who is boz, and why did he threaten to sue YH?
Fill me in Robbie.
- ribit0
I didn't think or say that they should be a statement of fashion. Its not about impressing anyone, its about having quality design.
I'm saying computers are part of our daily life, and like the other things we create, why can't they have quality in all aspects of their design, including elegance, aesthetics. Why would you want to ignore quality design iand craftmanship in ANY product?
Isn't our job as designers to make the world a nicer place to live in?

I'm going to start making hammers with clear plastic necks, silver powder-coat heads, white translucent polymer grips, and embedded LCD lights.
