I don't know man...something about the methodology of that study makes me question it.
Although that shouldn't undermine the fact that Iraq is getting deadlier and deadlier as time goes on, and more and more unstable..

there are always exaggerations, from either side.

who cares if the number of deaths is precise or not, the point is many many people died...

I'm completely shocked at how many people are claiming that the 600,000 Iraqi civilians killed since the war began are at the hands of the Americans...I've seen these ridiculous claims everywhere today.....Read what it says....The number of civilian deaths attributed to the truly insane insurgents completely overshadows the unfortunate deaths attributed to the Americans. Get your facts straight people. That huge number includes the hundreds of thousands of lives taken by the insurgents.
- TheBlueOne0
Yeah, but the insurgents are rthere because the Americans are there (you know fighting them there and all of that..). Winning hearts and minds...

Only kite flying happened there until those nasty Americanos showed up.

what exactly are you disputing in that youtube video of Richard Horton, Cactus?
he speaking sense as far as i can see.

(Oct 11 06, 15:34)well Cactus the point is that conditions have considerably worsened since the invasion. they were terrible before, but now the death rate has doubled.

Hardly and you know that as well as I do. But Saddam eas the source of terror for the general populace, now that terror has been multiplied from insurgents of all sorts of political bends and US forces...i would think that it's probably more terrifying on average for the average Iraqi...insufficent, intermetent power, not sure who to trust, ultraviolence happening on a daily basis..kinda makes the Saddam rera probably seem like the good ole days..you know at least the lights stayed on...

To the people who question the 650,000 deaths... do you also question the Holocaust totals as well?
Just wondering.

(Oct 11 06, 15:44)Hmm... An inverted Holocaust denial slander...That is very clever of you.
Oh the irony!

(Oct 11 06, 15:39)You mean the fact this man does have a very large axe to grind?
That point escaped you?

The death rate has also increased since the American invasion b/c of Arabs and Turks forced to live together. It works out sometimes because they are all trying to find a place to live, but sometimes it doesn't work out so well since they have been rivals for a long while. They were against each other b/c of Saddam favouring Arabs and forcing Turks to leave certain places.
It sucks either way.

I'm glad you got the Mussolini reference at least...
- TheBlueOne0
Jaline? Um Turks? There are no Turks in Iraq. You got the Kurds up there in the north, who don't get along with the arabs or the Turks in Turkey...and you got your shittes and your sunnis...and a few christian arabs here and there...but no Turks...
- pavlovs_dog0
yea, that numbers not even close to accurate...
...just plain bad journalism that it got on cnn, etc, etc.
not to mention how much bad propaganda helps the partisan hacks running amreica.
- TheBlueOne0
I stand corrected on the Turk issue. I blame the mainstream media for my lack of knowledge. My bad. Live and learn
However, I don't think the violence and instabilty is coming from that population.

'the turks' or just 'turk' is an ollllllddddddddd term that's been used in so many different ways in the past... that I can see why it SHOULDN'T be used now. :)
