do you only lurk around, waiting for these threads?

What? Are you new around here?

hehe, ukit... adaptation within a genome is called microevolution - what science observes. Species adapt to their environment, diet, climate, etc... Again, no one has seen species change, i.e. dogs becoming cats, cows becoming whales, etc...

kona, it ceased being "to each his own" when they wanted to start teaching it in public schools.

Again, simply not true. Speciation refers to a new species, not adaption within a species.

I'm quoting Scientific American. You're quoting a think tank started by a Reagan admiinistration official. I don't think we're arguing on equal terms here.
- pyeaton0
Thanks mrdobolina! Thats what my original point was.
- mrdobolina0
supernatural philosophy has no place in public schools, people can believe in the spaghetti monster for all I care, but I dont think it should be taught in schools.
- ukit0
Why don't you back up your ideas that speciation is not occuring from an actual scientific journal, instead of just cutting and pasting talking points?
- TheTick0
Funny, the forces of science are fighting to say, ultimately in the end, "We don't know, but we're going to keep looking..." and the religious forces are fighting to say "Well, only we know the answers, and we'll be happy to give them to you, but you better believe what we say, or else!..."

Here's Disicplers theory on speciation:
"And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
1:21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
1:22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
1:23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
1:24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
1:25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good."See it's all there in black and white. Obvious really...

I get sick of the lack of logic and scientific method in this thread...
i.e. there is no logic in saying 'if something is complex then it must have had an intelligent designer'. Complex systems could also be designed by natural design processes every bit as 'clever' and 'non-random' as any sentient being/thing/whatever could do. So theres at least 2 possibilities for how a complex system could come to be..
And the universe could have been caused by an outside 'first cause' that wasnt 'god', maybe another universe/thingy outside ours? Theres lots of theories on that (including 'turtles all the way down' theories)...
Just seems people get hung up on bits of the argument without the bits they are arguing being based on sound logic or looking at all possibilities..

No ribbit, we're hung up on the fact that this is a sleazy, backhanded way to slip a certain viewpoint based on a narrow interpretation of Christianity into our public schools.

dude, you're so far off the deep end.
an apendage that propelled an inscect over a pond evovles to hop the inscect accoss the pond, evloves to short flight, evloves to sustained flight.
there are mother fucking millions of fossils and dna sequences that show this exact kinda of transition.
cow becoming whales? what kind of intellectually dishonest bullshit is that? you've pulled the wool over your own eyes.

Someone please explain how manpurses fit into the equation?
- mrdobolina0
you put yer bible in it, kyle.
- discipler0
ribit, the lack of logic and understanding bothers me as well...
Nobody is saying that general complexity requires a designer, we are saying that irreducible complexity and digital information require a designer. There is no natural mechanism that can produce either of those. Science is showing us there is only one possibility - a designer.
And postulating multiverses only ends in an infinite regression of causes because universes are matter and energy which has been scientifically shown to require a cause.
- pyeaton0
And thank you tick.
All I have to say is keep faith based BS out of schools. Dont think that will happen until after '08, especially when the prophet Bush is going around sayng things like what is mentioned in this article.http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/st…
This is why I started this thread in the first place.

(Oct 7 05, 10:34)I'd like to the the cats that carry them would leave less offspring, thus the tendencey to do so dying off.

Ah, Tick has bought into the lies and propaganda. And still is avoiding the science.
