Pretty convenient that everything except God has to have a cause.

so scientifically, how was the designer, designed?
meaning, if DNA is complex and must have been designed, surely the designer is more tech than the DNA?
so obviously something this complex must have been designed, right?

"1 adult American in five believes that the Sun revolves around Earth, according to one study carried out last summer."
statistically speaking that's roughly 59 million people that are f'ing retarded...

You miss the point Dr. Huxtable. Only that which has a beginning requires a cause. :)
Since the universe and all matter require a cause, something without a cause would be required as the cause of all caused things. ;)
Something eternal.
Trust me, don't try to wrap a finite little human brain around the concept of eternal... we're not wired for it. It hurts.

Hey Discipler :), thought Id find you here..
Actually was very impressed with:

I can honestly say I did not realise entirely how complex a cell was, and will spend most of today rationalising how this complexity was developed with predetermined design..[retires to candle-lit room with paper and pen]

Actually, the correct definition of atheism is a lack of belief An atheist is simply one that lacks a belief in God. It is not his/her job to prove that God doesn't exist. As far as we are concerned, the very lack of any evidence is proof enough. It is the theists job to prove the existence...not the other way around.
Additionally, athiests believe that all religions, at best, fall under the category of agnosticism and at worst, are irrational to the point of absurdity.

How do you know that. It the grand scope of things , we don't know shit.

mrdobs, DNA is matter/energy, so it required a cause. God stands outside the realm of matter/energy, as it's cause.
The bigger question is how do you avoid an infinite regression of causes (and effects) when you take an atheistic position?

(Oct 7 05, 09:28)discipler, now explain that scientifically, without your faith involved? You said that ID has nothing to do with God, right?
- discipler0
Not so, adam. Unless you are redefining Atheism. Actually, atheism makes the very absolute claim that there is no God. And it does this on purely philosophical grounds. Thus, it's a philosophical/theological assertion, just like Theism.
The burder of proof also lies with the Atheist to disprove the existance of a designer. Which is a tall order in light of the apparent design we see all around us.

Really? God is outside? And I guess your bible has facts that will support this? What about when god took a walk with adam in the garden? Or when he wrestled Jacob? If I'm to believe that Genesis is "literal" becaus =e as you say "someone witnessed it and wrote it down, thus proving that it's true..."
I guess I'd have to believe that God you know was actually wakling around on the earth and was matter/energy enough to wrestle someone...
Or was that part of the bible an allegory? And if so, why isn't Genesis an allegory?
- discipler0
I did, mrdobs and that's why there's no scientific explanation. :) You see, when you begin talking about the nature and itentity of the designer, you cross the line of demarcation between science and theology. You are now discussing theological concepts. :)
For the record, the Big Bang, which demonstrates that all matter had a beginning, would indicate that something non-matter and without beginning, would be required as the cause of all things.
- tkmeister0
how many intelligent design do we really need?
i think you need some intelligence.
- discipler0
Tick, I thought you were ignoring me? ;)
Again, we are talking theology now, not science. Tick, the fact that the creator of everything has the volition to step in and out of time and space, is not a problem for me. The theological term is "theophany", meaning that God can make physical manifestations of himself to interact with his creation.
- DrHuxtable0
Yeah ... I didn't really miss the point, I was just not articulate in my response. I know where this is going to go. I say God had to start from something like everything else ... you say no (God is eternal). I say prove God exists ... you say prove God does not exist. Blah Blablah Blablah.
That's cool discipler. You have your thing. I just don't see it like you do. I choose to put my faith in the "old science" (I think that is how you describe it) ;)
- discipler0
ah, cool mikotondria! :) *waves really fast.

(Oct 7 05, 09:28)^ hack philospher masturbating with words. lol at you!
There is no debate in the scientific community about evolution. There never will be.
- adamfinger0
No, I'm afraid your definition is incorrect. I have not redefined anything.
Breaking the word "atheism" down, you will see that it means a NON belief in god. There is no need to defend this at all!!! Proof requires evidence. Faith is not evidence, it's a lack of evidence.
- mrdobolina0
so how exactly was the creator created, without religion again?
so you tell me how ID has nothing to do with religion again?
