I'm all for it. People are way too paranoid. Like the government has the manpower or resources to track the movements of 295,734,134 people (pop as of July 04).
Geith
(May 10 05, 19:10)exactly, people are being WAY too paranoid

Mmmm hmmm. I'm an old generation Xer. About ten years ago I read some stupid book that said that Gen Y (whatever that means but I am assuming it"s most of you) would be all trusting of the government and want to participate and support blah blah blah. Sure. Right. Like I trust governemnt. Like I trust THIS government? One that lied to go to war? That probably rigged an election. Sure - let them implement a national ID card in the middle of the night with not a peep in the mainstream media? Sure yup. Sounds great...
Guess so. And this is how freedom ends - with applause.
ANd I'll only be paranoid until the day you all realize I was right.

it's a slippery slope, I think.

I don't see why they need to bother advertising these ID cards on the news or in the media anyway... it's not all that intresting imo.. so theres a new ID, or new this or that - how long is that gonna hold my attention span for?
I much prefer learning about Jacko and Britney while I eat my 6:00 dinner, please don't bother me with the inner workings of politics, leave it to our elected representatives... sh*t I really hope my tax money is going to use, why intrupt my world with this crap? I've got about 400 things on my TIVO waiting to distract me at a moments notice, who wants to bother with this?
- TheTick0
randoman - geez I hope you are being facetious and I'm pretty sure you are. If not god I hope you're the first guy they put up against a wall and shoot as you mumble "I didn"t get to finish watching the third season of seinfeld on my TIVO, what gives?"
- randoman0
TheTick... not quite-
If something like this ever happened which I highly doubt, you should know something about me.
I'm a 10th season McGyver... I'm the one who will be camped out in the mountains of the midwest living off of racoon, squirrel and river possums, building weapons out of pinecones and honeycombs... while you whiners all are herded into camps complaining about some stupid ID card. I can make salt water drinkable with a book of matches and charcole.
TIVO has taught me many things my friend, many many things.

I love these scintillating conversations about meaningful things here. Really I do.

my problem is they relu on technology as a result they'll not be foolproof or hackable which negates their use - why should i carry a card to prove who i am if someone else can have a forgery of the same card
go to www.willowtechnology.com and buy a bloody card printer, chip encoder and mag stripe encoder solution.
- stem0
How easy would it be for an hacker to change the course of an election result?
Like you say trooperbill, they are placing too much emphasis on technology.

MX's radical solution #3
All children born to mothers who turn up to hospital in a shellsuit and/or Burberry to give birth shall have a "national insurance" number tattoed on their foreheads as soon as the afterbirth is wiped off.
That'll teach the cunts.
- stem0
What's your number emecks?
- emecks0

call me if you dare.
- stem0
It's ok, I can see your NI number on your forehead...
Don't be afraid of yer roots!
P.S. I think there's still a bit of umbilical cord on your shoulder!
