and the reason that money is a factor is that the health insurance industry has a great deal to benefit from by a future where the government can force people to stay alive indefinitely.
superbaka
(Mar 31 05, 11:34)wouldn't they actually lose, since someone who has health insurance would cause the insurer to incur the medical costs of keeping them alive?

spiralstarez... you last question makes sense... good call.
I'm just disgusted w/how her life was finaly discontinued.
Religion in this case is so annoying - I'm religious, yes... but the righty media and the family / attorney's fighting to keep her alive should tone down on the religion a bit.
... I'm just sickened on how inhumane her death was. Drugs to ease the pain... lame. Why keep pumping her full of pain medicine when they could have just 'flipped the switch' w/a poison? Would that be murder?
- mrdobolina0
I agree biz, but that would be considered euthanasia.
- mrdobolina0
...and the ned flanders' in this world would go coconuts over that.

biz
there is no pain in the way she died
people die like that everyday, it is not "inhumane"
the morophine was not there for pain it serves more for a comfort for family members
she had 2 doses at 5mg each, the lowest possible amount they could give..
that amount would do little to relieve any pain...
had she have been able to feel pain that is
- gruntt0
also, it would be ILLEGAL to give her poison. might as well say "they should have shot her in the head"

there aint no battles about religion. that would be like saying lets battle about fairy tales.

*hopefully her autopsy will prove that her husband physically abused her, putting her into a veg. state, then we will know why he never put her in physical therapy and why he never wanted her to talk again. - poetic justice would be a nice eulogy.

----------------once again... you can't prove that she didn't feel any pain.
scientists say that humans use between 2 and 10% of their brains... THAT THEY KNOW OF... so there doesn't 'appear' to be any activity...
... you can't prove that. I don't trust science or doctors in cases like this - because the only way to know is experience.
... and those who have suffered malnutrition and starvation have declared that it is painful.
- fawn0
how can it not be painful? no matter how brain damaged you are you will feel your body dying from no food OR water (so fucked they didn't give her water)
- brevity790
I hope they don't do an autopsy. For pete's sake, let her rest in peace, she doesn't need to be autopsied to proof Michael Schiavo's point...
- mrdobolina0
without a functioning brain, I imagine it would be pretty difficult to feel anything.
