once again, you have to change the paradigm before the protest, if the foundation is weak, the house will fall, again and again. If Jesus is naked, clinging onto the tip of a Tomahawk, it's only because you put him there. Everything that is advertised is a Hungry Ghost for Money, a supernatural ATM in reverse. Travel without Moving.

don't use 911 that way dude, it's manipulative. Using it to stir up feelings of anger. It's a tragedy... but it's not an automatic justification for ANY war.
This war will not decrease the level of terrorism in the world. The opposite is true.
- monkeyme0
thank you exador!
this is a very sad day in our history I think.

I pray for safety from bombs, terrorism and hatred for everyone in the world, especially those who are under direct threat of it right now.

Cowards and fools.
funny how *some anti-war people are the most hostile.
do i want or love war? not at all. so much in fact, that i will not pick up a gun and kill someone with it... i don't even own a gun.
but i back any measures taken that will insure the safety of people in my country.
if saddam disarms and bush decides to attack, regardless, then yes, i do not agree with that.
it's a matter of principal at this point. we've given him simple terms... what's the big deal?
do i still sound brainwashed to you? or do you just prefer verbal attacks as opposed to militant? peace indeed...

Slinky, this thread is about war with Iraq unless I am mistaken.
Those newpaper headlines are about terrorist activities associated with Saudi Arabian Osama Bin Laden.
They are seperate issues, although successful media propaganda has blurred them into one in some peoples' minds.

well put izaway. and yes, free palestine.
I am more afraid of Bush than I am Saddam. and I'm pissed he's screwing our great country up.
get rid of saddam but for gods sake get rid of bush too.
just a sidenote: america was created on the basis of ethnic cleansing. so it really depends on what side of the fence you're on just ask the indians...oh wait you can't.....they're dead. but now we refer to that massacre as "HOW THE WEST WAS WON"
how glorious.

Brainwashed.

yea, really fucked. i mean, if i feel like im in danger, i always have to ask for permission before feeling safe.
- mitsu0
"Don't give up guys. Don't let them think they have our consent."
the problem i see here is that you are viewing this as an 'us and them' situation.
should we pick up guns next and take ten paces?

"The man who attempted the first world trade center bombing was Iraqi!"
If you follow that statement to a logical conclusion you find that the US should also 'regime change' Saudi Arabia since most of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi.
- Buckyball20
my original statement from the beginning of this thread:
I pray for the safety of our soldiers and the iraqi people. I hope this conflict is short lived and as bloodless as possible.
this thread has become a conflict in and of itself.

Samuel P. Huntington'd theories aren't all that satisfying, or honest when you look at the big picture tho..
America, as a nation has been looking to re-imagine it's foreign policy, ever since the end of the coldwar.
it's final decision, much of it 'popularly' based on essays much like Samuel P. Huntington's, is easily described as a 'pax americana'....
thus we have (or you have) the PNAC
The Project for a New American Century, or PNAC, is a group founded in 1997 that has been agitating since its inception for a war with Iraq.
Most recently, PNAC created a new group called The Committee for the Liberation of Iraq. Staffed entirely by PNAC members, The Committee has set out to "educate" Americans via cable news connections about the need for war in Iraq. This group met recently with National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice regarding the ways and means of this education.Who is PNAC? Its members include:
* Vice President Dick Cheney, one of the PNAC founders, who served as Secretary of Defense for Bush Sr.;
* I. Lewis Libby, Cheney's top national security assistant;
* Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, also a founding member, along with four of his chief aides including;
* Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz, arguably the ideological father of the group;
* Eliot Abrams, prominent member of Bush's National Security Council, who was pardoned by Bush Sr. in the Iran/Contra scandal;
* John Bolton, who serves as Undersecretary for Arms Control and International Security in the Bush administration;
* Richard Perle, former Reagan administration official and present chairman of the powerful Defense Policy Board;
* Randy Scheunemann, President of the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq, who was Trent Lott's national security aide and who served as an advisor to Rumsfeld on Iraq in 2001;
* Bruce Jackson, Chairman of PNAC, a position he took after serving for years as vice president of weapons manufacturer Lockheed-Martin, and who also headed the Republican Party Platform subcommittee for National Security and Foreign Policy during the 2000 campaign. His section of the 2000 GOP Platform explicitly called for the removal of Saddam Hussein;
* William Kristol, noted conservative writer for the Weekly Standard, a magazine owned along with the Fox News Network by conservative media mogul Ruppert Murdoch.
hmmmmmmmmm....
:)starting to see a scary picture?
and this aint no conspiracy theory...

oh yeah get the killing over with quick. that makes it better. riiight
innocent people are going to be killed. just like we don't agree with bush there are people who live there who don't agree with hussein yet they are going to die!!! imagine the horror of knowing there is going to be a bomb dropped where you live!!!

i just thoght the newspapers were a good find... and i posted on the most recent/relevant thread...
I agree that the two, Iraq/bin Laden are somewhat separate but I for one believe that Iraq does support terrorism and most likely supports bin laden...
but my last post was not to offend... so sorry if it did

"the problem i see here is that you are viewing this as an 'us and them' situation."
If there is a growing division between "us" and "them" it is because "our" governments no longer represent "us" democratically.
The problem as I see it is the killing of civillians with my taxmoney and without public/UN consent.

''When it comes to our security, we don't really need anybody's permission."
Exactly. This is not a show of arrogance as some would interpret. This is stating the obvious. This statement is true in regards to any threat to our nation.
