css style a table

I need to style a data table using CSS. I'm struggling to style the border property. If I set the border to 1 on the table and then set the property in css to 1px solid #000066 I still get the horrid grey line as a border and the 1px. I know this is simple but it's so long since I used a table - what's the correct way to style the border on all cells not just the outside?
Thanks.

Survivors

Did anyone see it last night on BBC? I quite enjoyed it but then I can remember the original series and I enjoyed that too!
Would you want to have survived?

VAT reduction

If it happens (in the UK) will you reduce your prices or will you take the difference and keep it for yourself?

Those that have left the design industry

Anyone have any real life stories of people who have left the design industry and where they ended up. I knew a graphic designer who left and is now a teacher (not a lecturer in design but a "standard" school teacher). Most other people I know just talk about leaving but haven't gone yet.
Any real life profiles to share?

Adobe Air vs .exe

I need to create an application to run off a memory stick and/or dvd is there any advantage in doing this with Adobe Air rather than an exe file as I might normally have approached it?
I know that users will need to Air framework - so that's a pretty big negative, but what reason is there to use Air over an .exe.
Also, if I can package the framework with the application which Adobe seems to indicate I may be able to, is there a way in which it will easily install?

Anyone gone from flash to flex?

Am wondering if I need to start looking at flex again. Has anyone moved away from fash and now using flex more?
I'm ok with actionscript, but am not sure if flex is really a tool for programmers.

office chairs

Where can I get a decent chair from online? I don't really want to spend on a Herman Miller aeron chair, although I love the design. I hate to ask, but are there any cheaper "copies" out there. I've seen a lot of offices with chairs that at a glance look like Aerons does someone make a mesh chair at a more reasonable price?
Ideally UK, although I know we're on US time now as most of the UK will have gone home,

Facebook friends

I have sent out some friend requests and boy oh boy do my mates take a long time to accept. I'm thinking that maybe they don't login to facebook that much or their computer has broken or their ISP has gone down. So, when we finally do "become friends" I notice they've madly active all the time. So what gives? Do you sit on a friend request just to see how long someone'll hold out for? I normally deal with them right away, is that just old school?

multiple bloggin in wordpress

Am thinking of setting up multiple blogs on a website using wordpress. Are there any security issues giving people a wordpress blogging account? I won't be able to vet all the accounts as I am hoping to give them to a variety of known/unknown people. Is there anything I should consider in doing this or does worpress pretty much take care of the security so users can't do anything daft or malicious?

Building a bonfire

Tonight I'm building a bonfire. Do I start small and add to it as it takes, or do I build it big and just chuck a match in?

The badge of success

When can you wear that? At what point in your life do you think, that's it, I've made it. Is it when you toss the keys to your Aston to your butler at your ski chalet? Or is it when you produce a really great piece of work and then just take the rest of the afternoon off, because you can?
Any thoughts, cause I'm confused and caught between the dream (ie the first one) and the reality (ie the second one but maybe not great work just work.)

Serious answers need only apply.
In the industry? Creative director? Freelance? Doing charity work? Retired?
Anyone projecting ahead in their minds and giving this consideration?

web services

A techy question for you all. How would I get the data for something like holiday availabilty or flight availability? Is there an API or something that I can tap into to draw the information from. Is this going to cost me?

Sorry if this is too techy for here, but I thought someone might know someone or have a link.

Round and round the websites

Anyone else go from the same old websites hour after hour day after day. I seem to rotate in a small cycle of sites which quite frankly is doing my head in its such a time waster.

A few minutes here. a few minutes there - suddenly the day's over and I've just gone round and round.

Anyone know how to get off?

Multiple Language versions of a site

I need to create a site with a couple of language options. I'm thinking of using CMS Made Simple.
Has anyone any experience of creating the structure for a multi-lang site? Will I need to run two versions of the CMS or is there a way of separating one language content from another within a single install of a CMS?
Is CMS Made Simple the right product for the job or is there something designed to do this?
I could create this without CMS but I suspect somewhere down the line the client will want to update. Any thoughts appreciated.

where are we with global warming?

Watched the BBC prog about GW - I'm still not sure what I think on this subject. I know that I would rather think it wasn't happening (that would suit me as I quite like things the way they are - I drive a car, I fly etc). Nevertheless I look at the evidence as it is presented and I'm still not 100% sure what I believe. I "do my bit" in that I've changed my light bulbs, I do drive less and I consider the global impact of most things I do. However, I still worry about the "concensus" idea and the fact that the counter arguments are always destroyed without making real comparisons between the arguments. What's the common view on this, anyone? Are you all as confused as me?
