Had (LASIK) this done on saturday - anyone any experience of recovery times?
I've got pretty good vision now but it's not totally stable, close up is problematic, middle distance excellent, far distance great as long as I'm not trying to read small signage from 100 yrds. Any one had it done and can give me a sense of whether things will get better, stay the same or what . . .
thanks

I heard it's wobbly for a few days, then straightens out. Call their office and explain, isn't it usually a 48 hour turn-around?

what did your doctor say? how much did it cost? my sister did it and swears by it.. i rather like my glasses as i had the same pair for over a decade.. good luck with your heat vision..

I think the text book recovery is 48 hours but most people seem to indicate variable vision for anything up to a month.
Doc said all is well and I'm 20/20 - although it's kind of 20/20 in a not crystal clear kind of way! I'm not overly worried just interested in anyone who's done it before.

Both eyes? I thought they did one at a time

I had it done 2 years ago, be patient, my eyes were not stable for at least 2 months. best thing i ever did though.

depends the type of eye surgery.
the 24-48h recovery (considered light)
and the longer and more expensive one. my brother got that one. they cut his retina or whatever, then shot lasers at his eyes. followed by a pair of contact lens he has to keep on for almost a week. my brother became a basement dweller. any light would hurt like a bitch. not to mention the contacts that irritated him for the whole week.

I had a friend a couple years ago ask about it. They told him not to do it, since he's an art director, and they aren't completely sure how it affects colors, etc down the line, and his job depends on his vision.
Has anyone else ever heard that? Or were they just not very good at their job? I'd love to do it, but now I'm too iffy to try...

a guy at my work had it, said it was the best thing he'd ever done and would 100% recommend it

I had it done, Was minus 5 in each eye. 1st op took me down to minus one, then I had a 2nd tweak operation.
Ist time took 3 days for vision to stabilize and then 2nd took merely hours

PS as a creative, its been great. No colour issues, they do both eyes at once. I must say I did mine at Moorfields eye hospital. It costs more, but then again I guess you dont gamble with your eyes.
PS it is the best couple of grand I ever spent

my old flat mate had it done, he experienced slight discomfort for a while but kept routinley washing the eyes as instructed and it was ok.
he did have a complication of when they swabbed his eye, a fiber of the cotton stayed on his retina, and they had to 'open him up' again....
jsut sayin

I have terrible eyesight. I've been wearing contacts (and glasses once in awhile) for over 15 years. Subsequently, I have been seriously considering corrective surgery.
I asked my very professional and very respectabl eye doctor if I should do it. He lifted up his glasses, looked me in the eyes and said (not his exact words, but close), "I'm still wearing these. What do you think?"
- did you kiss afterward??

I'd love to have perfect vision again but it took me a very long time just to be comfortable touching my eyes for inserting and removing contact lenses. The thought of being awake and seeing this being done to my eyes would probably give me heart failure.

I will say that I have vision which is about -0.5 in each eye. So not perfect but driving legal and all that. One thing I've noticed (I had it done ~ 6 years ago) is that I dont find driving at night especially great.
