SF Bay Area Designers? May 22, 12, 9:10 a.m.

Anyone out here a web designer in the SF Bay Area? I'm in San Jose and looking to meet people doing web design out here.

Country Selector Conventions? Jan 9, 12, 10:58 a.m.

I am trying to resolve a country selector I am working on and I am having a hard time finding good resources. My selector allows the user to select from 5 alternative countries (the site then forwards to that country's site) and then a link out to a full list of countries.

I see a lot of places that go right to the long list on a landing page but haven't seen good examples of the specific type of interaction I am going to be using.

Has anyone designed something like this or seen something like this?

Auto Update Smart Objects? Oct 31, 11, 3:36 p.m.

Just starting to work with Smart Objects to keep our designs more modular and I am wondering if there is a way to set up photoshop to load in the smart object files each time the master file is opened.

In other words, I have placed a few smart objects into a PSD and I want to replace each with the latest version of itself (header.psd, footer.psd) when I open the file (about-us.psd).

Anyone know the right way to get this done?

I find it really humorous when I see an ad where a company is looking for a single person that is: an expert with PHP5, Ajax expert, strong with Actionscript, Social networking, e-commerce, Builds custom CMSs, database optimization for high-volume sites, search-engine optimization and management experience.

Especially when that company has a site that looks like this:

Is it possible that such a person exists in the universe? Is his/her hourly rate more than my annual income? Just sayin'.

If any of you out there use WordPress or build WordPress for your clients you might want to check this out.

I made a little web-app in PHP/JS and then converted it to a sidebar plugin. It uses the Twitter search API to pull in tweets with a given term or phrase in them. Good for bands or people promoting special events... I'm sure there are uses I haven't yet thought of.

Anyhow, this is my first crack at a plugin and it is my gift to the world. Shoot me feedback if you download it.

Anyone have one of these tiny computers? Debating whether to go with the Dell Mini or the MSI Wind for an IE testing machine.

IE6 CSS - Repeating Text in Span Jan 6, 09, 9:58 a.m.

Hey guys - Cannot remember the hack to fix this classic IE6 display problem. I have a span floating with text in it and in IE6 the last few characters repeat which throws off the layout. I thought it required a margin-left:-3px or something like that.... Anyone know the fix I am looking for?

Anyone meet these requirements?:
- Fluent in English and Swedish

- Able to take an existing site and translate it from English to Swedish

- Able to create all needed graphics if given templates

- Working in America or willing to accept payment from US checking account or PayPal

NYC Data Recovery? May 4, 08, 8:24 a.m.

As I was working yesterday my WD Passport decided to freeze up and now I can't see any of the data on it. Still spins and the computer still recognizes that it is a disc...so that is good.

As it turns out I am flying out to NYC tomorrow. Can anyone recommend a good data recovery place in manhattan?
