Online Framing? Aug 21, 08, 10:59 a.m.
What's the consensus for online framing? The only framing place around here is super slow and extremely overpriced, so I'm considering sending out for a frame.
Anyone?
Old Mac - Return from Dead? Jun 29, 08, 3:47 p.m.
I have a spare G5 tower laying around my place - it's cheese grater face is just staring at me, asking, "why won't you use me - you did spend $2400 on me three years ago!" It's complicated.
Anyways, just curious as to what some of you use old Macs for - space heater? File server? Media server? Uhh, display? I was originally thinking of selling the G5 off, but I feel like it should be good for.... something.
Salaries May 3, 08, 11:21 a.m.
This has been done a thousand times already, but whatever. This is the end-all thread.
So, I have a potential new offer floating my way for a Senior Designer position at a very prominent interactive firm opening up a shop in the Midwest - they're large and have a international client base if that matters.
Anyhow, I've been looking around to see what sort of salary figure I can throw them via http://designsalaries.org/ but I was just curious how accurate/real those numbers are? According to that site I should be asking for $60k/year.
I have 5 years in the agency world, have lots of experience in AS2/3 and have been dabbling with Papervision.
CS3 Illustrator to CS2? Jul 30, 07, 4:16 p.m.
I'm sending off an .AI file to a printer, but they're claiming it can't be opened in CS2 because I made it in CS3.
I've utilized the worldly knowledge of Google to no avail; I just can't find an answer.
So, it is possible to "save down" to a specific version of Illustrator from CS3? The printer simply needs a layered vector format.
Late-night Work Tunes? May 17, 07, 6:50 p.m.
I'm pulling a 22 hour day, and need some music to keep me going.
I've been looping Prince's "Purple Rain" for the last 4 hours, and have made my way onto MJ's "Thriller."
Help me/help you.
Calibrating Apple Display? Jan 31, 07, 7:49 p.m.
I have a 20" Apple aluminum display that I just so happen to think it starting to kick the shit; either that, or I never actually calibrated it properly in the first place.
Does anyone have a recommendation?
Screen Recording on OSX? Jan 31, 07, 11:23 a.m.
I'm making a series of mini-tutorials for a friend of mine - she is going to be presenting these mini-tutorials in front of a group of high school students to show what can be done with a "creative process" in a small amount of time.
Anyways, is there an application that will record whatever it is I'm doing on OSX? I don't need audio or anything fancy, but I would prefer something relatively bloat-free.
Flash Video (FLV) Player Dec 7, 06, 10:51 a.m.
Yo.
I've been asked to build out a lightweight Flash Video player for a client. Normally, I'd just use Flash's built in processing and skins, but the client wants a player-skin that matches the rest of the site.
Anyone?
Vector Browser? Sep 12, 06, 9:49 a.m.
I'm doing a few quick print-mockups for a client, and they want to see what they'd look like in a web browser . . . only thing is that I have to present in print format... eugh.
Anyone have any 180 dpi + browser mocks that I could use?
Portable Drive Sep 7, 06, 11:48 a.m.
Ugh.
My 40gb portable drive just bit the shit out of no-where. No huge loss, but a minor inconvenience as I use it to transport work from home to work, etc.
Any recommendations? I'm looking for something sub $100 and powered through USB or Firewire.
Large Format Printer Aug 9, 06, 10:46 a.m.
I'm in the market for a 13 x 19" at home printer that's capable of making high-quality editions suitable for a gallery setting.
I've heard good things about Canon, but I'm not too famiilar with their printers - same goes for Epson.
Framing? Jun 8, 06, 3:20 p.m.
I've got some sweet prints that I've been meaning to frame . . . only thing is, Minneapolis is pretty lackluster in terms of custom framing.
Anyone have recommeneds for a good online shop that specalizes in custom framing?
Swash? May 15, 06, 7:04 p.m.
Looking for some recommendations on floral, and decorative swashes.

Symbian? Apr 9, 06, 10:13 a.m.
I just bought a Nokia 6682 series 60 phone, and have no idea where to start on finding programs/games/etc for this.
People of NT, what do sites & utilities do you recommend?
NINTENDO 64!!!!!!!!! Mar 26, 06, 7:16 p.m.
Simple CMS? Feb 16, 06, 6 p.m.
I need something simple. All the CMS' I've played around with do way too much. I just need something where I can post an image, and it will link to the previous one.
Something similar to trueistrue.
Recommendations?
Pantone Book/Color Index? Feb 14, 06, 10:05 a.m.
Does anyone own/actually use these?
I've tossed around the idea of picking one up, but I don't know if it's justifiable.
Headphones? Feb 11, 06, 10:28 a.m.
I call upon all citizens of Newstoday to share their experiences with in-ear-headphones.
Shure, Etymotic, Bose . . flacid penis? You decide.
Goldfrapp - Supernature Type. Feb 6, 06, 7:31 p.m.

Convince me to leave Safari Dec 4, 05, 3:19 p.m.
With Firefox 1.5 looking, and behaving better than ever, it's hard to for me to stay with Safari.
Can anyone share their experience merging from Safari to Firefox? What are some key caveats/benefits?
