Moving to LA 1616 Responses

Without getting into a lot of detail or anything, I'm finding myself moving to LA within the next few months.
From the look of things, I want to live over on the West-side, preferably in a loft or a cool house/bungalow/guest house. Only thing is, my limit for rent is $1600 right now, until I can sell my place here in Minneapolis (of which I will be renting out for the next year or so.) Street parking is fine too, as long as it's a a good neighborhood.
Any of you have recommendations?

you can get a loft in downtown for that price range. might be a studio or small 1 bd.

Well, I live in a 850 sq ft open loft in Minneapolis, it has the bedroom separated by one wall though. So something similar is fine.
It seems like all of the tasteful lofts are downtown... which is fine, but I'm open to checking out cool smaller houses/guesthouses/etc.
So yeah, spacious studio or 1 bedroom. Kept up and unique, not typical suburban white-wall shit.
