Wow, small world is right!
Unfortunately we're moving out of PA on the 30th August – we're heading back to Indiana. I'm gonna miss the Pub beer and the Boathouse food though! If you're in the area before that and feel up to a drink shoot me an email, if not I wish you and Nicole the best of luck. Oh, and 20nine are looking for an AD and GD in case you're interested... just check the job board up top ^ :)

Hench, worse then bad can always be found.
Maybe if you take that position, then when you do hear about someone in a similar situation as Justin, perhaps you might consider using the situation as a reminder and donate to a charity that does strike a nerve with you?
Hey, at least something good can come out of Justins situation and you can do more than just draw comparisons to someone who is worse off.

As I said, I'm not starting a moral debate here.
If someone wants to help him out, cool.
If someone doesn't want to help him out, cool.It was just an interesting point I thought I would share.
- JKristofer0
But you did start a moral debate.
- morilla0
This isn't about all the people in the world who have it worse off. It is about Justin. He was a regular here and a friend to many.
We should consider ourselves lucky to have people here willing to help out.
- MrDinky0
^^ i love the smack down talk while talking about the wrong person
like Mariah Carey talking about death of king jordan, and she referred to Michale Jordan
- Paul0
You can always count on the crew on NT to get deep.
I just want to thank everyone that has helped. He's one of my best friends, so I'm just trying to help out the way I know how to.

I've got a bunch of kitchen stuff I'd be willing to box up and send someplace once he's settled.
- barbtastic0
those of you that keep saying "it's just stuff" haven't experienced the terror of watching their home, your livelihood, and your pets helplessly burning right in front of you.
it becomes a lot more than lost stuff when it hits that you are homeless for an indefinite amount of time and have no immediate way to continue to work and maintain what's left of your life. your entire world changes overnight.
- I've been there. so if my house burnes to the ground I get a editorial on QBN's homepage too?sureshot
- +1, that 'stuff' is probably his irreplaceable portfolio, art work, photos, family heirlooms, kld
- yup, material objects can have huge meaning to someone. Just think about the computers that had work on them.Jaline

Its nice that people are willing to help someone out by donating.
The fact that you have done that Paul is a nice thing to do.However you are abusing your privilidge as an Editor to put this in as an Editors choice are you not?
Yes, you might know him and he's a good friend to you - but most of the users on here won't know the guy so why would/should they donate?Does that mean if a friend of mine or a designer/programmer i know gets turfed out of their home or comes down with a critical illness I will be able to count on QBN posting it up as a Editors Choice to try raise some money??
What's good for the Goose should also be good for the Gander.
I think that's maybe the point that Hench was trying to raise but it was taken by everyone as "why should i give him money".
- lvl_130
all of the people screaming "abuse of editor power" please shut the fuck up. seriously.
if you don't want to help, then fucking don't. stop whining about. and please, please, stop making reference to helping "starving children and 3rd world country", because you can sit there and fucking yell to the heavens about it....but are YOU doing anything about it? chances are you are not (and those of you that actually are: good on you).
no one gives a shit what you have to say anyway...i'm sure i fall under this as well, but whatever.
i'm helping because i can. nothing more, nothing less. the guy is down and out of everything he ever owned. have a fucking heart.
- calm down, calm down likeset

i know exactly what you are going through right now, allow yourself to accept the unconditional support of your friends and remember how lucky you are to have them in your life [at least once a day!]only a matter of time now, things will be back to normal, have patience. the good that comes from a situation like this is seeing the true character of your friends, it's a good feeling!
- sputnik20
can't believe this "friend in need" thread turned into a debate about who is or isn't worthy of a hand. wtf? if you have the inclination and means to help justin out please do, but if not, why crap all over this thread?
- hi... missed you :Dbarbtastic
- aw, how are you barbs?sputnik2
- AWESOME! you?barbtastic
- MrDinky0
spuntnik. i dont think its just who deserves or not. when 'same' / Donvitoviti made a thread about it, it did not get the same sentiment,
http://www.qbn.com/topics/562115…its just that when it was made in to EC or official QBN thing, people started to question the morality of it. I dont think there is anything wrong with debating it about it.
- ninjasavant0
I think the difference is that Paul set something up for people to donate and let us know about it. If you also recall 5timuli posted about some trouble he was having and a few of us suggested he do the same thing but he declined.
- MrDinky0
followed by comments like..
"You guys are still arguing and not kerning. Tisk Tisk.
Your clients are very mad at you now since they won't get their banner ad promoting the newest best energy drink."
"Kern bitch, Kern."
"Now I remember why I don't post here more than a few times a year."what comes to my mind is, so when you need something you come here and ask for the support of the community but yet refuse to participate in the communal process?
- You seriously don't get it do you.same
- tisk tisk maybe you should try to raise money rather then trying another imaginary debate.MrDinky
- here is one for you, you win. back to work.MrDinky
- I got it as sarcasm...not sure why Dinky is so upset about someone trying to tell people not to argue.Lt_Jack_Hammer

It's harsh what happened, but to go crying to the internet and set up a fucking microsite?
This whole thing is either weird, or slightly fishy, or both.
- He didn't set it up, his friend did.ninjasavant
- I know his friend even less!moth
- whats fishy about it? go to any of the hundreds of sites that covered the story. actually go to 6abc.com, justin is seen in one of the videos.AllenF
