Let's post the positive uses from work or home!

I've been using ChatGPT for various tasks in my personal life outside of work, and it has been super helpful. Here are some examples:

    1. Creating a weekly meal plan for my wife who is a Type 1 diabetic. I entered her favorite foods, snacks, sleep schedule, work schedule, current A1C, and weight to tailor the plan to her specific needs.

    2. Translating text and writing it out phonetically to communicate with a Cambodian colleague at work.

    3. Summarized a new book I bought on leadership and generated 30 motivational quotes from the book to share daily with my management team.

    3. Asking ChatGPT to write a formal letter of gratitude to an old boss, which I used as a template for my own letter.

    4. Inputting all the information about my car and listing all the current modifications, then asking ChatGPT for advice on which modifications to pursue next.

    5. Use the prompt, "Explain it to me like I'm in tenth grade" to better understand complex topics.

    6. Creating recipes for various foods from different countries, and getting help with ingredients and substitutions.

    7. And finally, to serve as a copy editor for all my writing.

I'm currently experimenting with budgeting, there are limitations though, ChatGPT can create tables and Excel spreadsheets but does not generate formulas for Excel. I believe AutoGPT can do that, but I haven't installed it or learned how to use it yet. Nevertheless, I absolutely love the fact that ChatGPT can create tables on the fly, which is a huge time saver!

ChatGPT has been absolutely phenomenal with writing design related blog posts. It spits out 10 articles in less than 5 seconds. I have noticed is you request ChatGTP to write with a humanist and natural sounding POV, the results are significantly better than just asking it to write design related articles.

I also asked for an authentic chicken parmesan recipe for dinner the other night, and it was probably the best chicknn parm that I ever had.

    • Yeah, asking it to change style is interesting. Conversational tone, AP style, persuasive tone etc..HijoDMaite

    ChatGPT on QBN

The QBN.com design community is like a big family reunion where you get to hang out with your cool designer cousins, share stories, and show off your latest work. It's a place where you can find inspiration, learn from others, and maybe even score a job or two.

One of the pros of QBN.com is that it's a great place to find like-minded people who share your passion for design. It's also a chance to show off your work and receive valuable feedback. Just be prepared for the occasional snarky comment or the dreaded "meh" response from your fellow designers. Hey, not everyone can appreciate your genius, right?

Another benefit of QBN.com is the job board and marketplace. Who needs LinkedIn when you have QBN.com? You can find freelance work or even sell your own design-related items. Just don't be surprised if someone undercuts your prices or calls you out for using Comic Sans in your portfolio.

However, like any family reunion, there are some potential downsides to participating in QBN.com. The community can be somewhat insular and cliquey, with certain users who seem to dominate the conversation. And if you're not careful, you could find yourself spending hours scrolling through the forums instead of actually working on your design projects.

Overall, the QBN.com design community is a great resource for designers and creatives. Just remember to bring your sense of humor and your thick skin, and you'll fit right in.

    • I think I asked it to do something similar with a website with v1 and it said it couldn’t read a website. Looks like that has changed.HijoDMaite
    • Does this read 'good' to you lot?Nairn

after it solved some tricky javascript issues for me i tried asking it to produce a linedin embed using the lineked api, but it just couldn't get it to work

it was very apologetic about its failure tho

I coded a trivia question embed for the Sitecore content management system using html, css, and javascript. Once I finally got working code, I then asked GPT to analyze the code and write the prompt that would generate it.

It did. I've started to take other code and process it the same way to create a library of prompts. I'm not a programmer but I'm learning how to ask for things the proper way to get the code I'm after.

^ the coding thing raises an interesting challenge. If chatGPT is trained on stuff available from the internet, it's going to have more exposure to javascript, PHP, etc. Likely it's not as proficient with a less well known language or a brand new language.

If everyone starts using chatGPT to generate their code because it is so much more efficient, what are the chances that a new programming language (that GPT doesn't know), can emerge and compete in the post GPT world?

I'm sure that dynamic isn't exclusive to programming languages either. Maybe we are on the verge of ossifying all language based on the year 2019.

    • yeah it stops at sept 2021. So any updates to code things or new ways of doing it, forget it...shapesalad
    • And this is going to be the downside to AI, the data it trains on is time limited, and to do real-time data updating on it's learningshapesalad
    • would likely allow you start asking it to do porn stuff because it's soaking up info before it can be pruned/filtered.shapesalad

As some have mentioned it's useful in the kitchen.

I've asked three times now to find recipes that are specifically based on leftover fresh ingredients in my fridge (and I'll pick a protein to go buy). I hate to waste fresh herbs / veggies and they're often sold in bundles that are far bigger than we'll use in one or even two meals (basil, cilantro, taragan etc)... each time we've had pretty great results.

I just got some simple advice from it on how to cut stylish jorts.

    >>

Jorts, or jean shorts, are a popular and stylish choice for casual wear during warmer months. Making good looking jorts is easy and can be done with just a few simple steps:

Choose the right pair of jeans: Look for jeans that fit well around your waist and hips, but are a little bit loose around your thighs. Avoid jeans that are too tight or too loose.

Decide on the length: Decide how long you want your jorts to be. Mark the length with a pencil or fabric chalk.

Cut the jeans: Use a pair of sharp scissors to cut the jeans along the line you marked. Cut straight across for a classic look, or cut at an angle for a more modern look.

Fray the edges: Use a pair of tweezers to pull out threads from the cut edges of the jeans. This will create a frayed and distressed look.

Wash and dry the jorts: Wash and dry the jorts to soften the edges and give them a more worn-in look.

Optional: Add embellishments: If desired, add studs, patches, or other embellishments to the jorts to personalize them.

Remember to try on the jorts after each step to make sure they fit and look the way you want them to. With these simple steps, you can create your own stylish and unique jorts.

    • this is the shizhans_glib
    • It should have said, if you know how to use scissors, you know how to make jortscanoe

I had it set up a syllabus and start teaching me spanish. Paired it the flash card app “quizlet” for the memorization stuff. AI is superb for this, it’s like having a one-on-one tutor!

A friend's been dicking around with this and it came out with

"Robert Anton Wilson said it best
Our perceptions are just a small test
For consciousness is the Universe's tool
To experience itself and feel less like a fool

So embrace the coincidence of opposites
And let go of the fear and the politics
For only then can we truly see
The Universe expressing itself through you and me."
