- Isn't a NFT only proof that you paid for the NFT? It doesn't give you the rights to the "artwork". From what I understand you own the NFT, not the "artwork".palimpsest
- As I read somewhere:
"The NFT is the art".

The only true crime here is that the Beeple JPEG didn't sell for $69m.

- NFT is a receipt that proves you paid for said receipt.palimpsest

- "Eagerly awaiting the day when I can buy the bankrupt startup domains and start charging NFT owners to serve their files"grafician
- there is a LOT of new stuff here that will be very different in the near future.....dkoblesky

If you are into all this stuff... You might actually be surprised...
"Enter your NFT contract address & token ID to see the strength of your NFT’s assets."
- "The NFT token you bought either points to a URL on the internet, or an IPFS hash. In most circumstances it references an IPFS gateway on the internet runjonny_quest_lives
- by the startup you bought the NFT from and that URL is not the media. That URL is a JSON metadata file..."jonny_quest_lives
- Putting both that JSON file and the media into Ethereum itself would be EXTREMELY expensive!jonny_quest_lives

Why I'm not surprised. Fuck that beeple cuck.babydick - Lol, some good quotes...Gnash
- I’ve said that the Trump-is-a-Poopy-Hea... Mussolini genre of art that flourished in this time period is going to have the shelf life of Taco Bell leftoverGnash

Anyone creating NFTs had any luck with separate identities?
I'm on a few platforms and drop various art styles, but have some older work I would rather not connect as it's a completely different genre.
I think I saw "separate wallet" mentioned - wondering if that worked for anyone?
- I can barely keep one identity straight...so I just stick with the one....dkoblesky
- u can bet with your separate indenty that sure will help u selling more to others...neverscared
- Looks like within Metamask you can open different accounts so im assuming thats different wallet no's so you can open different accounts with OpenSea for examplmicrokorg
- ..I'd asked on OpenSea support and that seems to be the case. So I hope ;)microkorg

anyone knows what on which equations the algorithms are calculating when u mint?
could be very bad, like mililtary industrial complex stuff to very good like medicine etc...

Wonder what the deal is with the tax man and crypto made from selling NFTs? Like if you made a load of sales do you have to declare it? Or would it only be if I converted crypto currency income to FIAT and put into my bank that i'd have to declare.
With more companies looking to accept Bitcoin as payments, banks are never going to know your money comings and goings which means taxman is never going to know either.
- Found some info http://shorturl.at/a…microkorg
- Personal Investment = Capital Gains tax at cashout
Business Activity = Income Taxmicrokorg - As taxman couldn't request access to cryptowallet account like they could with a bank to look into your ins/outs so they are relying on you declaring truthfullymicrokorg

i stuck a ufo into my latest motel pic and shoved it on rarible. not expecting anything to come of it, mind, but hey, i've contributed to global destruction.

What is interesting to me, and makes me think something real is happening here.....is how MAD people get about it.
Like babydick...but he is not alone...I see people on twitter using language like 'this needs to be destroyed and wiped off the face of the earth!' and I am like...whoa....calm down
- if they were directly benefitting from it, i'm sure they would sing differently.futurefood
- indeed. this current bubble is obviously ridiculous and the tech needs to mature. But it isn't going anywhere.fadein11
- Was reading about interactive NFTs y'day. Couple of markets already doing them.fadein11
- Fuck beeple though, mostly shit work and ridiculous price.fadein11
- All the screaming really does remind me of the late 90's and early 2000's though.fadein11
- def. I remember everyone and their mother wanting to be on treadless to make T's.dopepope
- if it draws from that time it highly like will end like the dot com crash...just with some extra enviroment toxicity on it.neverscared
- Ya, the reaction to trump was a bit overboardGnash
- wasn´t threadless always free ? and no fee-gas for submitting ?neverscared
- i dunno peeps who have a following will make some money like usual. just feels like the everyone can be an influencer craze all over again.jonny_quest_lives
- artists who sell their work for a living know how difficult it is to get peeps to buy things... for every artist that has a 100k plus followers how much revenuejonny_quest_lives
- do those followers generate? I imagine the numbers are pretty dire.jonny_quest_lives
- peeps click the heart icon a lot but clicking a sale through the webshop is a another story.jonny_quest_lives
- The lifetime commission built in to NFTs is a game changer for creatives. Yes, it isn't quite right now but it likely will be. This tech and market will mature.fadein11
- it still lacks a tangible commodity... if a print or certified edition came with the nft maaaybe but a fucking token associated to an image url? hard pass.jonny_quest_lives
- A lot of the big NFT sells have included tangible itemsfadein11
- @fade like i said maaaybe but an artist whose work i genuinely like was discussing how this was just easier for them and was better than making a printjonny_quest_lives
- and going through the "hassle of selling and shipping it" so if the artist feels a print is a hassle this is their market i guess.jonny_quest_lives
- i see positives and negatives and unfortunately once scammers and grifters take hold in a marketplace it becomes very hard for that marketplace to mature b4jonny_quest_lives
- peeps are like fuck it that whole thing is a scam.jonny_quest_lives
- what i still don't get... as an artist you could do a print run of 500 limited editions of your art. signed and numbered.jonny_quest_lives
- printing and shipping depending on print size if u stick to 11x17ish total cost maybe $1500 to $2000 w/shipping. say you're popular and you sell out that setjonny_quest_lives
- low end $25 per print high end $50 per print... thats either $12k low end $25k high end for a 500 edition mid quality print run of your work...jonny_quest_lives
- i see NFT's listed on the low end .2 to .5 ETH. 1.5 ETH seems a bit high to me what is that like $2500? so $70 to100 to mint potential return of 2500 per mint?jonny_quest_lives
- so either model it seems like more of an established artist i business not for someone with a small fanbase/name recognitionjonny_quest_lives
- yep for sure, like anything on the net it's all about following and/or visibility. the video I posted above discusses a lot of the points you mention.fadein11
- some interesting articles above/belowfadein11
- @fade and that's why i don't outright dismiss it because a successsful artist entering the space will probably see success as well as the advantages due tojonny_quest_lives
- their following so from a business standpoint it's a no brainer... but as an emerging artist i recommend some skepticism and maybe a more traditional approachjonny_quest_lives
- during this manic/mania phase as it seems all this is blind luck or who you know right nowjonny_quest_lives
- and some just looks like money laundering
https://foundation.a…jonny_quest_lives - totally, I find it interesting as another disruption of traditional markets. It has huge problems. And this bubble is insane. Beeple's piece only has value as afadein11
- potential historical artefact. It's a terrible piece of art.fadein11
- The curated marketplaces are actually very good, lots of really interesting stuff. And there is a certain aesthetic at play. Something slightly original.fadein11
- Lold at "like babydick, but he is not alone"StoicLevels
- i wonder how much money laundering they will find, nuffin to be too proud of the be an artist, but then the world is fucked anyway so why not cash in..neverscared
- just live with the consequences, its not eco friendly so dont be whining like a little boy when u get called out... just say .. fuck the enviromnet i need theneverscared
- moneys...https://www...neverscared
- You guys forget the buyers are basically crypto bros, as nobody in their right minds would buy NFTs with real cashgrafician

i swear to christ we are going to keep inventing markets that "will be sustainable once we create sustainable sources of energy" until we evaporate the universe
that or we'll create a sustainable source of energy that will prove the unsustainable nature of markets
- the point being the systems NFTs exist on are fucking bullshit but will eventually likely make sense in a different world, but all of this is just dumbcolin_s
- i agree, why they care so less about timing and wait till the tech is cleaner is beyond me..always making the same mistake.. like shoot first ask questionsneverscared
- later really.neverscared
- the tech is clean. it uses electricity ffs. what isn't clean is using fossil fuels to generate it. get your heads off the sandESKEMA
