I sold my $2,500 Bitcoin in January, cuz I thought it would only go down with all the fraud.

    Could've had $1600 more if I just waited :/

    • buy high, sell low. that‘s the way.uan
    • It's called a "bad news cycle" and all it did was allow us to load in and get bargain prices on all the blue chip crypto... (solana, ethereum, btc, ect...)cherub
    • They were scaring ppl into selling, and it worked. All the rich ppl loaded up on ethereum when it was near $1,000 now look at the price.cherub

Crypto Magnate Do Kwon Found Liable for Multibillion-Dollar Fraud
When Do Kwon’s crypto empire fell to pieces, tens of billions of dollars were wiped out. A civil jury in the US has found he lied to investors.

Filed in February 2023 by the Securities and Exchange Commission, a regulatory body responsible for protecting US investors, the civil complaint alleged that Kwon and Terraform had “perpetrated a fraudulent scheme that led to the loss of $40 billion of market value,” whereby they lied to investors about the prospects and stability of the cryptotokens they issued.

Kwon, who went into hiding after the tokens crashed in 2022, is facing criminal charges in the United States and South Korea. He was recently released on bail from a prison in Montenegro, where he was arrested last year and awaits extradition.

I forgot how intense it is to trade crypto. Always on, massive price swings.

Want to sleep? Crypto market doesnt. Wake up at 3:30am? Better check crypto price, see if you’re buying a lambo tomorrow or maybe you’re broke. Back to bed or execute a trade? Insanity.

I’m not even actively trading it. I’m just holding it because I think the price will rise significantly in the coming weeks. When the price was low I didn’t even look at it and now I can’t stop!

I always think about all those people who used Bitcoin to buy weed/drugs from Tor networks back in the day .. and how that quart of dirt weed in 2012 would have now been worth $50k..

I remember seeing in Berlin back in 2012 you could pay bar tabs using Bitcoin.. worlds most expensive beers now..

Bahamas Bank Deltec Accused of Giving Bankman-Fried ‘Secret’ Credit to Buy Tether

It was one of the remaining puzzles after Sam Bankman-Fried’s conviction on fraud charges: what was the relationship between the one-time crypto billionaire, a Bahamas bank whose chairman created the cartoon Inspector Gadget, and cryptocurrency Tether?

Text messages, a declaration from Bankman-Fried’s former colleague and ex-girlfriend Caroline Ellison, and other documents published as part of a lawsuit filed against alleged enablers of his scheme suggest a tighter web of connections than previously known.

“I lost my house,” she says, three years later. “I lost all my money. I couldn’t pay the mortgage. I owed a lot of debts when I did actually sell the house and pay the rest of the mortgage off – by that time I didn’t have much left.”

“Now I haven’t got five cents in the bank or in my pocket. I can’t go to the dentist. I can’t get my car serviced properly.

“It just goes on and on. I can’t even get my [hearing] checked out. I’ve had friends deliver food packages on the doorstep. I have got nothing left.

Chief executive of collapsed crypto fund HyperVerse does not appear to exist
Exclusive: Steven Reece Lewis was introduced to investors with an impressive list of qualifications and achievements, but no organisation cited can find any record of him

A chief executive officer whose claimed qualifications appear to have no basis in fact was used to promote the HyperVerse crypto fund, alongside celebrity messages of support, as part of a push to recruit new investors into the scheme.

A Guardian Australia investigation last month revealed thousands of people have lost millions of dollars to the HyperVerse crypto scheme, which was promoted by the Australian entrepreneur Sam Lee and his business partner, Ryan Xu, two of the founders of the collapsed Australian bitcoin company Blockchain Global.

Blockchain Global owes creditors $58m and its liquidator has referred Xu and Lee to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission for alleged possible breaches of the Corporations Act. Asic has said it does not intend to take action at this time.
