I have a couple of saving plans going on.
One from the moment i started working and will end when i'm 65. Total value: 110.000 euro
Second, when I started my business together with my wife a pension plan on the company that will end up at a total value of 220.000 euro
And our house, that consists out of a workspace of 200m2, a Loft of 175m2 with a terrace and another loft of 180m2 with a rooftop garden. An estimated value of 1 million euros. Which we will sell when we retire.
Untill that time work my ass off to make this happen ;)

my kid just told me this morning that she never wants me to die, retirement for me means selling our house and moving to our summer house, other than that I'm fucked, just hopin' for UBI

45 here.
Prob. I will not retire until I die. Own a house, no debts, doing strong savings and investments on my studio place.
Would like to buy another property and rent it, but not this year.
Getting a bunch of nice clients latelly, maybe, one day I'll pass the business to my daugthers, they're smart girls (much more than me...) and if they wish, sure that will do great things.
I am getting old and tired, with this asthma I think I'll not become as old as my parents, but, ey, who knows?
At this point, all I ask is to be able to age with dignity, with my friends and family near, and in a Basque Country in peace.
I love my life, not making money...

I semi-retired a few years ago in my late 30's. Meaning I don't work a full-time job anymore. Instead I sorta changed career from a designer/art director to become a painter/artist, so I work as and when I like.
I own a property near the coast, when the weather (in UK) is nice, I can go for long walks along the coast, beaches, breath in the sea air, or bike around the countryside. I mainly chill, watching boxsets and movies, as I'm a big movie buff.
I do bits of design work from time to time, not paid, just stuff for me, as I rarely go a day without some idea whirling around my head. Remnants from working in the advertising industry. But, recently have had an itch to get back into designing. I find during the winter (when its cold), things can get a little boring, as everything slows down. But summertime is great. Roll on summer.

I'll just take a fucking running nose-dive off a cliff if I make it to that age and have no money
- I'm thinking suicide is the only way out as well... at least the 90's was fun!mugwart
- Not sure my knees will be up to a running nose-dive much longer. More like - let go of your walking frame and roll down a steep hill and under a busFax_Benson
- max out the load/credit options first, go travel the world, then jump off cliff, making sure debt can't be passed on to relatives.shapesalad

I'm one of those people who has had a couple of pensions running for the 15yrs I've been working. But it's looking like I'll spend all that I the first 3yrs. So, dunno. Fucked I guess LOL. See what happens over the next 30yrs.

borrow money, overextend yourself, claim bankruptcy, but whatever you do, don't spend your entire life working to save so you can quietly die alone as you waste your hard earned money wasting away.
this idea that we should have savings just to die bored in a group home is ridiculous.
die in debt.

I'm about to turn 46, and my wife and I have been saving money and doing rrsp's etc for ages. I don't have a pension (work as the CD of a software company here in toronto area...so it's just whatever I can save, essentially.
My wife, on the other hand is a teacher, and as a result, has an insanely good pension.
ontop of this, we have the house we own...which is worth a fair chunk at this point due to the housing market...my guess is that we'll do ok-ish...
not going to be fabulously wealthy by any stretch, but shouldn't be hurting at all...And like many of you, while I may retire from full-time work etc, at some point i'm sure...i don't imagine I'll ever retire from design work as a whole...just enjoy it too much...

I don't really plan to retire but if my plan works out then it's kind of retirement at young age. Which is: I will day-trade & swing-trade cryptos and invest some as well for longer term.
This will allow me to "work" (press some buttons) few hours a day if at all and enjoy life.
Not saying it's easy but if you know what you're doing and have the right tools, the right platform, the right trading system ...then it's possible.
And the nice part of this is you can do this from pretty much anywhere in the world with your laptop & wifi.
- I read an article written by some 20yo crypto guy who said "if you're not a millionaire in 5 years then you're an idiot"Gnash
- wish I understood that world.Gnash
- I think he said that when Bitcoin was exactly around the top. Don't listen to these hype & pumpers. Everybody has their own timing and results.M01XXX
- Plus you don't need to become millionaire at all. Even just few hundred bucks a day doing this few hours a day is nice and pays the bills.M01XXX
- it's no different from any other sort of trading of an asset class, in which you're more than likely to fail. very few make a sustainable life from day tradingshapesalad
- it's even harder with crypto, as there's no real metrics, historic metrics, to base your trading decisions on. it's just bitcoin going up down on whims+hype.shapesalad
- how do you know to buy some bitcoins today, what's scheduled in the next 6 months? nada. bonds and equity have timelines and events, so you can time your tradesshapesalad
- shape, totally correct. But I've been doing it for the past few years and developed my own tools/ indicators as well. As said: it's not easy but doable.M01XXX
- The fundamental tech behind it is all good, better to invest in companies using blockchain tech revolutionise supply chains / distribution / shipping / etc.shapesalad
