just finished watching 2nd season last night with the wife and kids.
we loved it.
I think overall, the first season was a bit stronger...but that said, we all thought the story and direction was pretty on point for this season.
we all knew that probably the main point was the reuniting of 11 and mikey....and there was a lot of build up to that....and it was worth it.... when she walked in all bad-ass....the reunion was great.
also of note was the strong team work of Dustin and Steve.... I think that was done very well....over all.... it was damn fun to watch....

I was exactly the same age as the kids are in1984. It adds a little more glory to the nostalgia.
One criticism: Winona - your concerned parent screeching and wailing gets boring VERY quickly.

Not finished it, but I'm enjoying the second series so far. Even if it's not as good as the first.
Then again, Stranger Things at its worst is still head and shoulders above the best of many of shows (I'm looking at you, Star Trek: Discovery).

a satisfactory second season.
some good, some not so good moments.
think they are going have to go up a gear for the next season.- spoiler comments ->Bluejam

I've noticed that there are two types of writers after a colossal success. Those that are terrified of their 'responsibility' and those that get confident.
I find the ones that are rather terrified make better follow ups and the ones with egos fall into ego formulaic plot driven. This is sadly what this became. I love the cast, love the actoring but this really lacked flare and imagination of the first. It's falling into so many of it's own pitfalls - literary in this sense!
This show set it self up for an amazing 'ghost buster' theme "dont cross" the stream ending but didn't. Everything was so convenient. I hope the brothers pull their heads out their arses and make the follow up epic. Stranger Things well into so many hearts in the first season...
Rant at an end!
- Duffers started writing season 02 before season 01 was released, so as to not be influenced by audience expectation or review.robthelad
- ^ really? Wow - didn't feel like that. Might also explain over confidence...this defiantly was too much ego in this writing.mugwart
- Yeah, they mentioned it in one of the "after show shows"robthelad
- but normally they say that when they haven't. I dont trust those after shows.mugwart
- so many times "we didnt use CGI for this shot" and I know for a fact that thye have!mugwart

Episode 7 was so cringe. On so many levels. Worst tv writing ever. Characters made me roll my eyes so hard i looked at me own brain.

Step,
I came here 30 minutes into episode 1 to say the same thing: the constant and overt 80's nostalgia is super distracting. I don't remember the first season being this way. Too many scenes appear to exist for the sake of playing a cool 80's hit song. I hope it decreases a bit quickly.
