Q: convert to large mp4

I have an uncompressed Quicktime video file. It's 5400x1920 and will be played on a video wall installation. I was able to convert it to WMV at that size with Quicktime Pro but the techs say they can't play it. When I tried Quicktime Pro to export the file to mp4 I get the following error "Failed: qtKitErrorCatchAll (-108)". No luck finding any answers from google. After Effects won't export mp4. Media Encoder won't do it at that size. MPEG Streamclip won't either.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to convert this to mp4? Thanks in advance.

use handbrake, but I don't know why you can't export to mp4 from Quicktime or After Effects / Media Enconder.
just making sure you know, you need to choose the H264 option
- Can't do it for dimensions larger than 4096.I need it 5400x1920. I'm trying Quicktime Motion jpg B in Media Encoder right now. I will try Handbrake too. Thanks.CyBrainX

far as I know the max resolution for mp4 files is 4k -- h.265 or webM should allow you to output at that resolution though, just need to make sure your playback software can accomodate those filetypes.
worst case -- downscale it to 4k. Depending on the viewing distance, the quality loss may not even be noticeable -- at least to your audience ... you'll know ;)

Allok MPEG4 Converters works pretty well for compressing/converting

So far Handbrake can accommodate the file size but all I got was blackness. I'm trying different settings now.

just split it into two videos and play them side by side. VLC can also do it i think.
