look at it this way,
isis sells it's stolen oil through turkey,
isis fighters get treated in turkey,
isis fighter pass are free to pass through turkey and israel,
turkey is arming the syrian rebels,
turkey is combatting isis,
turkey is combating the kurds,
isis is combating the kurds,
russia is combating isis,
syria is combating isis,so it makes senses to down one of their plane while it passes over a 5km wide part of turkey
- Turkey is fighting Kurdish Hezbollah - not the Kurds... careful how you spread disinformation fella.fadein11

"Russian helicopter destroyed? In what appears to be a separate incident, another Syrian rebel group - the Free Syrian Army’s First Coastal Division - says it has destroyed a Russia helicopter on Turkmen Mountain, using a TOW anti-tank missile, writes Louisa Loveluck, Middle East Correspondent. Pro-regime media outlets appear to have confirmed the report, suggesting that a Russian helicopter has been forced to make an emergency landing in government-controlled Latakia. It was previously reported that Russian helicopters were trying to access the location where the first fighter bomber had crashed. If the strike is confirmed, the TOW missile was most likely supplied through the same US and Turkey-backed logistics programme that has reportedly been supplying Alwiya al-Ashar. The rebels' usage of these American-made TOW missiles has increased over 800 per cent since Russia began air strikes against them at the end of September, slowing regime offensives across the country by destroying dozens of tanks and other armoured vehicles."

Russia violates almost all of their bordering air spaces, invades EU's space on a daily basis. They provoked it every fucking single day. Now the boohoo is great. Assholes. I'm actually glad it was turkey and not Finland or Sweden or even Lithuania with German Jets. They'll think twice before they piss of turkey with their insane Erdogan.
- Well the US violates the airspace of most middle east countries, I do not see them getting up in arms...
wait a min..georgesIII - "invades EU's space on a daily basis"
if that was the case i would expect the media would have reported these incidents.******** - It has been reported on several times. They've pushed into our airspace with long ranged bombers. They are testing the limitsformed
- They do, weekly.detritus

Turkey’s news agency Dogan repeats reports that Turkmen commanders have stated that their forces shot both Russian pilots while they were parachuting down, and that they have the bodies.
war crimes

Maybe the cause of WW3 will just be mass confusion as countries lose the ability to figure out who is funding and backing which side. Were we attacked by the Turkish army, the Turkmen, or the United Islamic Turkish Front? etc
- yep - the layers of complexity are certainly getting worse - post-modern warfare.fadein11

I think Turkey just fucked itself, or worse fucked everyone else if this escalates to a wider, messier conflict.

Shooting jet down was an antagonistic response. As someone said Russia constantly invades airspace (including here in the UK) - Imagine the UK shooting a Russian fighter down - now that would be an issue. This will blow over - no WWIII yet guys.
- Turkey has no ability to win a war and NATO would NEVER back it in its actions - so all it has done is seriously upset it's enemy.fadein11
- Well, given NATO's agreement is "an attack on one Ally shall be considered an attack on all...", I would still be concerned.ETM
- So it depends what Russia wants to do.ETM
- Russia isn't in NATO lol... NATO would not defend this antagonistic action from Turkey.fadein11
- NATO has said they "stand in solidarity with Turkey and support the territorial integrity" of Turkey. http://www.nato.int/…nb
- Look at the keyword in your statemend: "said"... I guarantee they will not do anything. Too much to risk/lose. And Russia knows it.fadein11
- Seriously? I KNOW Russia isn't part of NATO! However if they retaliate against Turkey, see above. Didn't think I had to explain, paint by numbers style.ETM
- Maybe I better anyway:
1 - Russia does a retaliatory action that could be define as an act of war.
2 - NATO states, an attack on one ally is an attack on all.ETM - 3 - So technically Russia attacks all the allies, per NATO agreement itself.
4 - One hopes diplomacy prevails, but it's a crazy world.ETM - And some right-wing U.S. politicians are already saying that if Russia does anything, the U.S. needs to intervene.ETM
- Russia won't do anything and even if they did NATO will not start a war against Russia - it will find a diplomatic solution - just because the NATO agreementfadein11
- states something it doesn't mean they do it lol.fadein11
- lol. fadein11 knows everything about global politics. lol lol lolETM

"@imagineallthepeople - it is regularly reported here in Europe... been numerous incidents of Russian jets entering UK airspace and not being in a hurry to leave"
hm, do you have an example of planes actually entering UK airspace without approval?
I did try to find such an incident, even an accidental one, but couldn't find even a single one in the last 30 years. every report I found was in international air space, not UK airspace.
I suppose people confuse reports à la "UK typhoons scrambled to intercept Bears" with an actual incursion into or violation of sovereign airspace. the difference being, one is a perhaps annoying (but perfectly legal) show of force outside of UK territory, the other one would be a clear casus belli if it is in fact done routinely.
- Sorry my semantics were wrong, it regularly enters airspace defended by the RAF, leading to numerous fighter scrambles... just google it, lots of example fromfadein11
- recent years.fadein11
- Really not going to get into a debate on my semantics - you understnad my point - Russia has done this a million times and it hasn't been shot down which is afadein11
- massive overreaction by a very weak nation trying to flex its muscles on the international stage.fadein11
- not trying to nitpick, but the difference is pretty serious. RAF has the same business defending international airspace as Russia has flying around there.********
- What the English Channel lol?fadein11
- Okay you win - I am taliing bollocks - there you go - you've won the debate - whoop.
I really couldn;t give a fuck if you cannot see the point I am making andfadein11 - it's a non-issue basically. people may find it worrying, I understand that. but nobody can accuse russia of violating anyone's territory...********
- focussing on minor details... enjoy your eve - don't reply ta.fadein11
- the turks are protecting their interests just as russia protects theirs, just as the usa protect theirs, and on and on...Gnash
- Russia purposely antagonises the UK in nearby airspace - that was my point. Blah blah - you win - have a good eve FFS.fadein11
- ... when they only fly around over the north sea as show of force.********
- @gnash - did you see the flight path the jet took? I think he just wanted to get to his targets quicker so he could get home for some vodka and ghoulash ha.fadein11
- My point has been made, if you cannt understand it - bad luck.fadein11
- thank you********
